Two of the Church of England’s most senior Bishops are today (5 February 2008) urging people to cut their carbon rather than give up chocolate this Lent.
‘Traditionally people have given up things for Lent. Last year in the Diocese of Liverpool many parishes took part in a Carbon Fast. Through it we focused on God’s earth and its poorest people in whom, Jesus said, we were to find him. This year in Lent we invite you to join us in a Carbon Fast.’ The Rt Rev James Jones, Bishop of Liverpool
A Carbon Fast? Truthfully I like the chocolate angle but with the Archbishop of Cantebury calling for Sharia Law and now this Climate Change nonsense, well that ain’t gonna win over my infidel soul.
The Church of England should rename themselves the Church of Imam Suzuki, that fits. Totalitarianism – the religious and environmental variants, are all the rage these days.
