Members of the Centre for Islamic Development on Robie Street say they’re sick and tired of beer bottles, cigarette butts, marijuana smells, loitering, vandalism, vomiting, urination and loud noise they say is coming from the next door business, Good Robot Brewing Company.

“At one time the noise was so unbearable we couldn’t walk in the hallway. They’ve had marijuana smoking right in our vestibules, right in our doorways so it goes all throughout the premises,” said Zia Khan, the director of the centre.

” Center for Islamic development” tells me all I need to know about these assholes. They’re not happy? Send them home.

My heart bleeds for them… or maybe not.

    • V10_Rob

If it doesn’t, they can fix that for you…

      • eMan14

I’m sure they would enjoy that.

Go to any small French-Canadian farm town with an old Catholic church…there’s always a bar across the street. So, after Mass…all the men go have a drink at the bar–not to get drunk but to chat while their wives finish socializing.

    Urinating, vomiting, you name it.

So make a Piss & Vomit Mohammad and shaddap.

Is this like when people buy cheap land near an airport then complain about the noise?

  • passerby1969

The Islamic centre was there first. I’d hate to live near a bar as well. I side with the Muslims on this one.

An Islamic Centre? Zoning laws may protect houses of worship against people building pubs next door but they don’t protect ‘centres’.

      • It seems to be a combo Mosque-Islamic centre, the mosque having been there for over a decade. I found this seemingly more accurate CBC article from 2014 which explains in the header that “Work on the Centre for Islamic Development began 3 years ago”, and states: “The mosque has been apart (sic) of the Robie Street landscape for the last 15 years”

This as opposed to the CBC article above, which describes “The centre, which has been in the neighbourhood close to two decades…” Sloppy journalism, probably; but possibly they felt “centre” was more anodyne than “mosque”.

It’s about two blocks from Jamal Badawi’s much bigger new mosque. Look him up, do, he’s rather famous.

I was going to say something about this being the first inch given before they take a mile, but yours smacks of racism and/or cultural appropriation, so its better.

I can’t wait for the BBQ pork smoker to get fired up.

It soundss to me like they are pretty well matched. Who would want to live nextdoor to either one?
