Rex Murphy: What kind of example is America setting?

evil-hillary-clintonWith due apologies to Tom Wolfe, this American election, alas, is a roaring bonfire of the insanities. People who have respect and affection for Americans, and I am pleased to be one of them, melt in tears for the spectacle of their current presidential campaign.

The Clinton campaign is a pyramid of lies, equivocations and cover-up, spite and snobbery. The lies: Hillary Clinton deliberately and (despite the absurd declaration of Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey) with intent, took all her communication off the government’s secure system to escape freedom of information requests, and conceal the octopus ties of her office as secretary of state with the global solicitations and fundraising of the Clinton Foundation. She wanted, above all to hide “her damn emails” from the eyes of everyone, because otherwise they would throttle her candidacy from its first breath. Her five chief assistants from Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills down were all granted immunity, she received unique treatment, her husband Bill forced access to Loretta Lynch, the attorney general, on an airport tarmac days before the decision not to prosecute. Aides used “hammers and BleachBit on computers and phones” to obliterate their memories.

I know I am like a broken record, but this is the behaviour one always finds in banana republics. If Trump does not win, it is sadly the end of the country and by extension of Canada.

One of my sons who lives and works (his own business) in California told me that a lot of Trump supporters are afraid to say so in public for fear of having their livelihood and life ruined. Most of the people he knows can only scream that Trump is a racist and a sexist without, of course, being able to provide any proof. Due to his business my son and his wife keep their views to themselves. It is mind boggling that these people, all with a university education and are so-called professionals, buy the lies and propaganda spewed by the Left.

    • I suspect a great many Trump supporters are silent. It is a smart thing to do in a nascent Banana Republic.

While I keep a low profile on this, I’ve found that a surprising number of people support Trump, including two women I talked to who said that all this talk about Trump’s behavior towards women amounts to nothing more than boys will be boys, and that there is something wrong with men who are not attracted to beautiful women.

    • Not everyone who goes to university is smart, sadly.

This is a spectacular rant on the subject:

It’s “damned”. If you’re going to pretend to ponce around with the English language it’s f@@king “damned” not “damn”.

I can hear you, and I sympathize, but most can’t and don’t. Pick your battles. It’s better for the blood pressure. 😉

  • Rex Murphy has been a buoy in this sea of madness. He is calling out this insanity as he sees it and it is refreshing to read.

Contrary to what most Americans – especially conservative ones – seem to think, it wasn’t the supposedly wonderful nature of their political system and constitution that made America great, so I don’t see this as a particularly bad development in an of itself.

So, some odious grifter lands in the White House. It’s almost fitting.

The Left cheats and rigs elections, they always have and always will. Wikileaks provided evidence Donna Brazil provided Hillary with the questions to her debate with Bernie, how did she get them? Why isn’t the news media reporting it? Why is Bernie keeping his mouth shut?

Threat of an untimely death is what I figure.
