Lennonism: Elites Want To “Imagine There’s No Countries”–Voters Don’t

“The president believes the world will be a better place if all borders are eliminated — from a trade perspective, from the viewpoint of economic development and in welcoming people from other cultures and countries.”

The president in question is Bill Clinton, speaking soon after leaving office, on Sept. 10, 2001, in Melbourne, Australia. There’s apparently no transcript; the quotation is from the businessman who hosted the forum in an article in the next day’s Melbourne newspaper, which appeared, thanks to time zone differences, about 12 hours before the airliners hit the Twin Towers.

There’s chit-chat that Lennon supported the Repubs just before the end, there – to the distress of many progressive-types.
Speaking of boneheaded presidents, here’s a shot of the most recent one, telling the ocean what it should be doing…https://static01.nyt.com/images/2016/09/26/us/26whletter-ss1/26whletter-ss1-master768.jpg

Oh if only that anchor was wrapped around that disgusting muslims scrawny chicken’s neck.

No government = anarchy. Anybody want to vacation in Somalia?

Former Czech President Vaclav Klaus had it right when he remarked, “You cannot have democratic accountability in anything bigger than a nation state.”

    • UCSPanther

Who needs to go to Somalia when our dim-witted elites insist on bringing that lovely culture of anarchy, warlords, tribal/sectarian warfare and the-strong-rule-the-weak here…

      • mobuyus

Are there any skinnys that are really strong?

      • Bataviawillem

No need to travel that far just go to Dearborn or Jane and Finch

        • Mal

Or Don Mills, South of Eglinton; or Danforth East; or…

  • Cat-astrophe

    The article ends with:

“Today, 15 years after Clinton’s talk in Melbourne, Lennonism remains the credo of many elite leaders but is in grave trouble with voters.”

The desires and wishes of voters do not matter. Once they swing the majority of the votes (through years of propaganda) to a majority in their favor, the electorate cannot swing back, ever.

  • Cat-astrophe

If there is any way to have the worlds population follow ‘1’ leader, ‘1’ system there will have to be a great reckoning and an ‘OVERWHELMING’ revolution of thought, allegiances, tribal thinking, etc., etc.

“Imagine” is a prime example of a song that has not aged well…

    • mobuyus

I always thought it was some sort of communist manifesto, not a song.

      • Norman_In_New_York

It is and it has duped many millions.

        • mobuyus

Oh and they were so easy to dupe.

  • A Hamilton Guy

I have always hated that song. Lennon was a puke.
