Prayer breaks, headscarves, and time off – the rise of religious tension in the workplace

Islamic employees no longer hesitate to ask their bosses if they can sneak out for a ‘prayer break’ during work hours, it was claimed today.

Is it because employers are afraid of being sued?

Probably but Islam is like leak in a roof, if you don’t deal with it soon it gets worse.

One company I worked with, Friday lunchtime the mahometans disappeared for a couple of hours to get down to the mosque for the jum`ah prayer and listen to a khutbah sermon explaining what devils are we kuffar. They didn’t work late to compensate. No response from management.

Shouldn’t this be sorted out before employment? I never considered a 15 minute prayer to the god of hops, barley, corn and water every two hours. Next job maybe.

Bell Canada builds gender segregated prayer rooms and Wudu sinks in some of their office buildings and provides Halal food upon request when food is provided by the company for meetings.

Do they provide beheading rooms or does that have to be a public event?

This is the sort of info that needs to become very public, though I’m sure Bell would prefer it didn’t. A little investigative reporting might be in order by someone willing to take the plunge.

The building I worked in had 2 separate rooms called “Quiet Rooms” that were gender segregated – with a Wudu sink between them in the hallway. The company line was they were for all employees to use for “quiet contemplation” yet if you walk into the rooms, the walls were covered with one particular religion’s posters and had one particular religion’s prayer paraphernalia (prayer rugs) rolled up along the walls.

This is just an interim step ’till we get to mandatory “prayer” breaks and ramdam time off for ALL employees. I guess we’ll get to find out how productively Western offices, schools and institutions function under sharia’s heavy boot.

we had a similar situation in fabrication shops and studios with smokers, they need an average of 15 minutes for a smoke break so they were asked to estimate the number of breaks beyond the contracted coffees and lunch , and the hour or multiples were simply deducted from the time card. breaks were monitored by floor supervisors and compared to estimated breaks, most smokers confronted by real financial hardship chose to quit smoking.

There may be some employees who wish to pray the Rosary at a certain prayer time, Will they get the same consideration?
