Child euthanasia centre soon to open in Netherlands

From Janene Peters, health writer at Netherlands Times:

Within the next year a center for euthanasia in children will open in the Netherlands, professor of pediatrics Eduard Verhagen predicted to Dutch newspaper AD, who calls him the authority in the field of child euthanasia.

Euthanasia is not permitted between the ages of 1 and 12 in the Netherlands at present, but policynakers there are waiting to see how well it goes down in Belgium beore moving forward.

But according to Verhagen, doctors are already investigating the practice of life-end decisions for kids between the ages of 1 and 12 years. “We think that some children under the age of 12 are well able to make such important decisions”, he said.More.

Reality check: Could some Canadian seniors be starting to “get it” about euthanasia? Euthanasia is shaping up to be the pension plan of a bankrupt health system. And we are all “the fetus” now.
