New York Times: All the news that’s fit to correct

In an article chiding Libertarian Party presidential nominee Gary Johnson for “a surprising lack of foreign policy knowledge” in admitting to not being familiar with the Syrian city of Aleppo, The New York Times was forced to issue two separate corrections after misidentifying the city as both the political capital of Syria and the capital of the Islamic State. More.

Reality check: The main thing to see here is that it doesn’t matter any more that the Times gets it wrong. Anyone can get it right from any number of official online sources. That is what’s killing them: Not that they get it wrong but that they don’t matter the way they used to, whether they get it right or wrong.
