Snowbirds traumatizing to war-weary refugees

mouseThe liberal mindset: “I don’t enjoy it so no one else should either”

From The Star – Welcoming refugees into our communities implies a responsibility to provide a safe environment for rehabilitation and integration. Yet next week thousands of our neighbours will be exposed to trauma in a spectacle most of us would do away with in the first place.

The air show is nothing like a charity bike ride. In a city with a large population of refugee newcomers and people who have experienced the trauma of war it is insulting, invasive, and violent.

  • No wonder the Star banned comments.

    • reidjr

They really should be called The Islamic Star.

      • dance…dancetotheradio

You already have the Islamic Maple Leafs.

      • Liberal Progressive

Clearly the Star missed the biggest trauma, which is all the non-muslims these refugees will be forced to be exposed to because of our intolerance.

Naturally the only solution will be to make sharia the law and make Islam the official religion of Canada, but then perhaps fellow progessives like Justin and the Star are already looking forward to that.

    • Martin B

      The Star is beyond parody.

    • Clink9

This asshole is a great advertisement for the CNE air show. I’m going for sure now.

Lefties are determined to rid the city of everything that was there when they were born. It’s all they can do.

  • FactsWillOut

Fine. Let’s show them the real thing.

  • Drunk_by_Noon

They hate everything that would make a Canadian feel good about their own country.

Maybe they would prefer American “Blue Angels” flying combat ready F-18s instead?
They put on a great show!

    • mauser 98

yes …F18s come in real low real fast with afterburners on
      ..let em count the rivets

      endless pussification here…death spiral

      • Drunk_by_Noon

I saw the Blue Angles with my kids in 1994 at Naval Air Station Point Mugu and they did a simulated three direction attack run on the crowd.
You could not hear a damn thing until those jets had already passed directly overhead and were flying away.
Silence, then the most massive jet roar you have ever heard.
        It was great!!!

        • mauser 98

at Lakekland Fl. airshow 2 years ago ..great
          F22 turns like magic
          Blue Angels always great…

ultralights?? never no way a butterfly will flip them..never seen them before

worth it if you can get there

        • Slickfoot

I saw the last F-4J showing off at Point Magu a few years back, came in on the deck turned around the tower showing a ‘plan view’ of the aircraft then left the scene on full burners looking for all the world like it was running on soft coal.

      • mobuyus

On Nov. 11 the F18s over Ottawa do a turn around almost over my house and I can surely see the rivets just as my dad saw the rivets on the American airplanes that had accidentally bombed them occasionally in WW2. I love them.

      Canadian Recreational Vehicles:

    • Clink9

I’ve seen ’em at the CNE air show. They’re amazing.

  • K1

If you are faced with an enemy who intends to kill you…
what would this Toronto Star author do?

    I’m grabbing a Lancaster bomber!

    • canminuteman

The beer? There is a very good imported English beer called Lancaster Bomber.

  • mauser 98

TO Ex airshow in 60’s jets would break sound barrier over the lake

think one was a British Vulcan
imagine now.. half of TO would soil themselves

  • moraywatson

If ‘refugees’ genuinely wanted to avoid the traumas they ‘escaped’ from in their homelands, they would discard the burqa, niqab, hijab, and man-frocks. They would shun the mosques and madrassas. And they would otherwise assimilate. Instead they insult our cultural norms and try to change US. Screw that.

Just say NO to the totalitarian supremacists of islam.

    • mauser 98

      good point …more TorStar BS

      • john700

How about we keep the Snowbirds and we send the refugees back to Syria?

    • dukestreet

Yes, but they don’t, They also head back home to visit family. Why come here when you bring your problems with you. It’s Islam that’s the problem. Instead they shove it down our throats. Since I live in a “stan” neighbourhood, I am well aware of their methods. Too bad our politicians are so willfully blind. Even though they see the havoc in Europe, they have no intention of protecting the people who they are responsible to.

  • Maggat

PhD candidate? He certainly gives us a good idea the worth of a PhD.

    • terrence22

PhD – Piled Higher and Deeper

  • mobuyus

This asshole must have nothing but liberal assholes as neighbours. I myself feel comfort at the sound of the good guy’s jets, those that don’t are certainly my enemy.

    • mauser 98

      consider source

  • Gary

It’s now obvious that the “refugees” are the problem , not the Air Show. They chose to come here for the welfare and now want to bitch about how we should make canada change to make them happy.

We got played for suckers by the bogus somali refguees in the early 1990’s where many are STILL on welfare while some of their mosques are pumping out terrorists.

This is how muslims refugees say thank you.

  • Gheri Celin

imbecile, phd, exemplar quality post secondary education!

  • Frances

Given our planes were over there fighting their enemies, and our troops are still there helping, this is rank ingratitude.

  • Shall we ban air travel, too?

    • Yusuf_al_Kafir

The refugees certainly didn’t get here by rowing boats across the fucking Atlantic Ocean.

  • canminuteman

Yeah, but I didn’t invite refugees into my communitee in the first place, so their whole argument dies right there.

  • JohnfromToronto

If this guy gets his PhD… The lowest of the low using refugees to push his political agenda.
