Meet the ‘Trumpocrats’

trump-voters-640x480Meet the “Trumpocrats,” or so the sizable collection of lifelong Democrats breaking with their party because of their disgust with nominee for president Hillary Rodham Clinton and supporting instead Republican nominee Donald J. Trump call themselves.

I’m a lifelong Democrat, really since I was a little kid, and I still am a Democrat. But the Clintons—for instance, where I am from, my hometown, when I was a kid we had 15 manufacturing plants and we now have one. Nobody does anything there anymore, and that’s the same thing happening in a lot of small towns across the country really. The Clintons are really the cause of this, the cause of manufacturing going overseas with NAFTA and the trade deals and all of that. Donald Trump, he says a lot of crazy sh*t, but the one thing that he does say, that he really does want to do something about that and that he wants to protect our people with better trade policies and new trade policies.

  • This must be embarrassing for the Democrats.

I suppose I’m a Trumpocrat, but I’ve crossed party lines many times over the last 50 years.

I’ll believe it when I see it. I remember ’08 where the PUMAs (Party Unity My Ass) folks from the Clintonistas were OUTRAGED at the Zero and threatened to vote McCain in protest.

Spoiler alert: Obama won by 7 pts.

Americans and a lot of others can’t seem to grasp that their economy is on a knife edge hanging out over an abyss. Someone like Trump can do a lot to pull it back onto solid ground but the medicine is going to take two or three decades to fully do its work and it will resemble cold turkey drug rehab. It will be a tough slog and as usual, a lot of politicians will not be on board for the long haul.
