Venezuelan food riot

Why Couldn’t What Happened In Venezuela Happen Here?

People are starving in Venezuela, and socialism is to blame. People are standing in line for food that they will never taste. Americans love to think such tragedies cannot happen here, but some of us aren’t so sure.

  • Most people in the US are 3 days away from being hungry, and 7 days away from attacking their neighbors for food. A breakdown in the food supply chain – due to a transportation failure, disease, technology glitch, civil strife – could set off food riots and social chaos. Hunger creates desperation and if you’re not prepared by having both food and the means to defend it, you’re probably going to become a victim.

Or you could take the other side of the issue and just plan on committing cannibalistic acts right out of the chute.
After you get over the icky factor, it opens up all sorts of avenues of exploration for your newfound ‘urban-cannibal’ status.
        I prefer the term “Reaver”.

Reavers, i always figure they were based on a visit to a ghetto in detroit.

Take a walk through a Walmart. If you still have an appetite go for it.

Shut off the EBT cards and see what happens next.

it’ll pale in comparison to the “protests” we’ve seen to date…just yesterday was explaining to the kids just how easy it would be to stop the flow of commodities into a city like Cleveland by shutting down the highways bridges, trains, air traffic and boats…couple guys with rifles and the city is CLOSED for business! Then just sit back and watch the show….

I’ve been working in the food industry for 30 years and your statements are accurate. The distribution networks all function on a ‘just-in-time’ basis. Were there to be no electricity for three days almost all foodstuffs would be spoiled and inedible. We’d only have flour for bread and root veggies to eat.

..1 or 2% interest rate hike and the bubble bursts

Ontario is already on the road to socialist ruin. And now that feminist bare chested Trudeau is on his throne, the rest of Canada will soon follow.

As little as I’d enjoy being along for the ride, I think the West really needs a proper crisis like this. Something that’ll leave a lasting impression on people for a few generations, like the Great Depression. You know, real problems, not spoiled indoctrinated child first world problems. The 2008 crash taught many people a harsh lesson in finances, but not enough (or it’d didn’t sink in deep enough).

  • The U.S. doesn’t need Socialism to bring it to economic ruin — the seeds for ruin are already there in its almost 20 trillion dollar debt: $20,000,000,000,000. Economists set the absolute cap for U.S. debt at 10 trillion around the turn of the millennium — anything beyond that would be unsustainable and lead to bankruptcy as a Nation. It has since doubled under Obama, and I think the only reason credit-raters haven’t downgraded the U.S. credit rating to a C- is because the credit raters are American (e.g. too big to fail)!

Even if Trump is elected it might be too late. If Hillary is elected it’s suicide — Socialism to boot.

Thank god I work in a recession proof industry.
I know, the last time I said that I was working for a company that made equipment for Comcast and Cisco and I got laid off.
This time, though, if the lights go out it’ll be because I flipped the wrong switch.

      • Not to be all doom and gloom and spoil your Sunday evening, but what about an EMP attack?

        • dance…dancetotheradio

Well, my Sunday is already spoiled.
I’m on standby, doing laundry because what the hell else can you do when you’re on standby?
An EMP attack only makes me more valuable.
It’s a transient pulse and if it blows some circuits I will be working overtime doubletime tripletime to help get them going again.

          • There are supposed to be EMP weapons in development that attack electronic/computerized circuits (eg versus the grid) — essentially fries everything microchip based.

Analog circuits built in the seventies have an advantage, then.

Communism is not what Venezuela was because Cuba grows their own resources, and I have seen photos of Venezuela and they were at best reform socialism meaning trying to make laws. Remember socialism through the democratic route can never be Marxist-Leninism or Castroism. Which is why there is so much misinformation. There are still corporations and private industry, and even the opposition still have television stations broadcasting nonsense. I am merely saying that socialism means workers owning the means of production. As a nationalist that wants true freedom, a nation should not just be a one-industry state like Venezuela because they relied too much on oil and they got hammered by US sanctions. I still remember that the neoliberal Capriles would have catered to the IMF and they would have surrendered to the bankers and the large globalist corporations. The only way to have a strong economy is for it to be mixed, diversified and for the nation to be truly representative and that means yes having some state enterprises but also private industry and making use of every facet to strengthen and provide wealth for the nation. This is the misinformation about the variants of socialism versus social democracy versus democratic socialism versus communism. Communism would have been more self-sufficient like Cuba and would have ended private industry completely, and had no economy and could have protected Cuba from external sanctions.

The reason why America is failing is because of Keynesianism mixed with corporatism mixed with too big to fail and mixed with usury and mixed with having no manufacturing and I have seen the figures and they do show that all over America there is an underclass and around 90 million Americans are either unemployed, underemployed or in substantial poverty. That is because of the decay of the US by the two major parties that have been largely ignored by the American mainstream media and people as a whole. Which is why the Green party and the Libertarian party are starting to grow so much and why Trump and Sanders gained so much publicity and airtime and got into anti-globalism during their campaigns, but I would say that is short-lived because they are not talking about substance Trump and Clinton now. They have largely been silenced by the media, and capitalism is failing because the current system is not working for too many people, and the current system is a form of capitalism!

Socialism turned the hard-working, smart, law-abiding, cooperative and culturally integrated people of Northern Korea and Eastern Germany into unproductive drones. I don’t think it would face much of a challenge doing the same to us.

This illustrates the Founding Father’s wisdom in including the Second Amendment. The people with guns can take food from those without one.
