Scotland Yard ploughs £2million into new ‘thought police’ unit to snoop on web users and hunt down trolls

Britain’s biggest police force has set up a controversial unit – dubbed as ‘thought police’ by critics last night – to investigate offensive comments from the internet.

It will be supported by an army of volunteers trained to seek out anything they deem inappropriate on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

They will then report it to officers who will attempt to track down the culprits and possibly prosecute them, according to a report seen by The Mail on Sunday.

Scotland Yard is spending £1.7 million to set up its Twitter squad, which will have five detectives running it.

Will this hard left fascism be restricted to the UK (the United Kaliphate) or will this disease spread to Canada?

No doubt Justin Trudeau might entertain implementing such controls in Canada, assuming “controversial” websites and comments are not already monitored by government here. Thoughts, anyone?

Ya I too wouldn’t mind hearing from our hosts on this. There’s at least one commenter I strongly suspect is some type of government provocateur.

I worked with a lot of gay guys in hotels and restaurants over the years.
Even the lesbians hit on me from time to time.
I was sure I knew what I wanted and I got it.
Proud father of two kids and husband to a wife I will never cheat on.
            I couldn’t touch another woman.

We have already seen the beginnings of the same thing here through the use of the Stalinist tribunals and law fare. Furthermore our Supremes have ruled that the truth is no defence. Add various judicial activists claiming that free speech is an American concept and the party now running the show, you can bet it will get much worse.

        Genuinely depressing.

…the Scotchland Yard,,,like,,,what f***ing crimes have they solved lately? …just a bunch of PC drunks…

  • Slickfoot

Why do I have the notion that the only offended feeling they give a shit about are muzlim?

  • simus1

Hiring excessive numbers of police, then assigning them to PC make work nonsense never ends well for the rest of us.

“It will be supported by an army of volunteers”. Purely by chance, 100% diverse and recruitment will have been assisted by Tell MAMA. Sharia enforcement has arrived.

It would be interesting to know in what languages this monitoring will be enforced. Diversity, after all, implies a multilingual environment. Or are “hate crimes” exclusive to the Anglosphere? Since Germany is doing the same thing and there are German speakers living in the UK, one must presume that such hate crimes are committed in German as well. Hence, this effort should include monitoring of German-language tweets/posting etc. online in Britain. And what about monitoring Britain’s significant Polish minority? Do you see where this is going? Eventually, Scotland Yard will be OBLIGED to hire Arabic speakers as well. After all, suggesting that a particular kind of crime is committed exclusively by one group of people smacks of xenophobia at best, racism at worst. Hoist with their own petard, as they say.
