Gingrich outrageous, but Shariah is worse

Within hours of Thursday’s terror attack in France by Islamic State-inspired terrorist Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, the former speaker of the U.S. Congress, Newt Gingrich, called for weeding out all Muslim Americans who support Islamic Shariah.

Appearing on Fox News, Gingrich said: “We should frankly test every person here who is of a Muslim background and if they believe in sharia, they should be deported.”

The reaction to Gingrich’s outrageous and unworkable proposal was swift.

“Wrong, wrong, wrong,” tweeted former interim Liberal leader Bob Rae.

I am not so sure Gingrich is wrong, Bob Rae’s opposition firms that up.

Steve Crowder suggested a wonderfully simple test: Everyone has to draw Mohammed, which can be as insulting or flattering as the person wants.

As for Rae and other liberals, they should be pinned on sharia at every opportunity. Why are they cool with a system of religious law that is so illiberal?

    • I like it!

you are allowed to do it if it is taquija, if you are on jihad and
came with the aim to conquer america.

What’s with all the Melissa McCarthy ads?
    I can’t stand her.

bob rae?!? bob rae!?! That douche bag doesn’t know his ass from a hole in the ground. _uck bob rae.

  • ntt1

Newt is absolutely correct. The adherence to shariah is what makes Islam so toxic .strict adherence =radical therefore deport rather simple really

    • Alain

I suggest that even without sharia, there is nothing to redeem Islam as an ideology.

  • I don’t think Gingrich is entirely wrong, especially Muslims who have become citizens by taking the oath of allegiance. Individuals who consider sharia law supreme to the Constitution have in fact misrepresented themselves on their citizenship applications, and in taking the oath of allegiance, and should be stripped of citizenship.

Bob Rae is a pretty stupid Lawyer if he doesn’t at least recognize that oaths and signed statements are contractually binding. (But I guess that’s why Rae got into weasel politics — not enough brain power to be a decent Lawyer).

    • Alain

The problem I see with Gingrich’s approach is that it is just not doable. It would depend on those questioned giving honest answers. Let’s say there is evidence of a communist mole in a government department, would anyone suggest interviewing all employees asking if they support communism? No.

  • Dana Garcia

Newt is wrong. No quiz will keep out all the bad guys, not to mention the second generation who are often the ones to go jihad.

Just plug in “nazi” for “muslim” and remember WWII. Democrat President Roosevelt didn’t dole out visas to nazis and neither should we.

Anyway, automation is taking millions of jobs, so no first world nation needs any immigrants to be worker bees. Zero immigrants is the right number these days — that’s fair.

Gingrich is wrong??? I don’t think so. This would be a challenge to carry out but even if it was only 50% effective it would be a good start to carry out the safety of the USA, and by extension Canada.

    • Alain

Yes, it would be a start which is far more than what exists. At the very least it would put an end to those clamouring for sharia courts/law openly.
