Israel Can Only Manage, Not End, the Threat from Gaza

A senior Defense Ministry source in Israel said recently that a confrontation with Hamas is inevitable, and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) must be prepared for it. The source added, significantly, that “the next round must be the last one for the Hamas government.”

Such a statement reveals a deep misunderstanding of both Israel’s opponent and Israel’s predicament. Hamas is indeed an implacable enemy of Israel. Its ideological commitment to the destruction of the Jewish state is enshrined in its covenant and is propagated in all Hamas-sponsored educational organs. Hamas has acted on its hatred by organizing numerous suicide bomber attacks, by digging tunnels to facilitate the perpetration of terrorist attacks, and by launching thousands of rockets toward Israel’s towns and cities. It deserves to be the target of Israeli military action.

I don’t think this writer, as well meaning as he is, has ever heard of the phrase “unconditional surrender.”

    • He should;)

      Or Caesar’s conquest of Gaul.

The threat can be ended. It’s just going to take a lot of civilian casualties and collateral damage, what with Hamas being so deliberately embedded behind human shields and humanitarian infrastructure.

It’s a question of how willing Israel is to be the villain in the narrative and go it alone for a few years. Social and mainstream media will be flooded with Pallywood imagery, the UN will be dominated by islamic cries of outrage, and the West will be sufficiently divided by our useful idiots.

But… they’re halfway there already. If they made a deliberate decision to wipe Hamas off the map, what would change internationally? Louder cries of indignation and condemnation? Boycotts that impact 0.001% of GDP? What happens when Israel decides that if it’s going to be damned anyway, they might as well do what they’re being damned for and at least get the benefit of removing a constant security threat.

They gave back the Sinai for Peace. It didn’t happen. They gave back Gaza for Peace. It didn’t happen. The only way to stop a barbarian culture is to out barbarian them. I’ll be cheering for Israel when they finally come to that conclusion.

They don’t have to be barbaric, just ruthless. Their enemy has sworn not to rest until all Jews are dead, and it’s not mere political posturing. Every peace deal and compromise is reneged on, every ceasefire is just a breather to re-arm, every murderous thug is praised as a hero. They practice what they preach and they instill it into their children. They eat, sleep and breath jihad.

In the face of that, Israel is justified in eliminating an enduring and implacable threat to their existence. Their enemy refuses to live by anything except the sword. Israel should see to it that they die by that sword.

History will remember it as a grey day in history, like the atomic bombings of Japan, endlessly debated by the victors as to whether it was the right thing to do, and even those who say ‘yes’ take no pride in it.

Or Israel could roll over and die, and their passing will be marked with jubilant annual celebration for all time by islamists. That certainly goes a long way in my mind to determining who are the just and moral actors in this constant war.

You do realize that Israel is very vulnerable .
They have the best Politicians on the Planet.
      And then there is YOU.

  • Spatchcocked

Nope…won’t work….you’ve got to demoralise the UN and its cohorts first….

  • canminuteman

They can nuke it. That should end the threat.

  • Alain

Gee such a surprise. So those of us who opposed the forcible removal of all Jews in order to give this part of Israel to the Muslim Arab squatters continue to be proved right.

Jabotinsky was right almost a hundred years ago. Pull up the bridges, seal the borders, erect the Iron Wall and tell them all to go fuck themselves. As far as we should be concerned they don’t exist. And every rocket or mortar that comes flying out, should be met with a missile strike on an apartment building without warning, comment, apology or footnote.
