FBI’s Comey to testify before Congress on Clinton email probe

FBI Director James Comey will testify before Congress on Thursday to explain how he concluded that an “extremely careless” Hillary Clinton should not be prosecuted for sending top secret messages over a private email server while serving as secretary of state.

I have just one question for the FBI director. Why is it that ordinary accused persons are constantly admonished that ignorance of the law is no excuse?

I have just one question for the FBI director: What did the Clintons pay you

I don’t think he was paid.

        • I think he was telling the truth when he said that he wouldn’t find a prosecutor who would convict her. Certainly not from the current pool of prosecutors in Obama’s DOJ. It would require an outsider.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

A couple of articles have suggested that he laid out the whole case in a I’m saying it was aliens, but it was aliens kind of way.

          • There was definitely some fudging going on — it’s not up to the FBI to determine the degree of “intent”. It’s up to the courts to determine that and apply whatever punishment fits the crime.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

I think he took his case to the media directly, knowing that his findings would have been suppressed if he’d trusted the DOJ.

          • You have to give him kudos at least for that — he didn’t seem to be pulling any punches.

      • Exile1981

I’d ask what they threatened him with.

This will be interesting although I honestly do not expect much at this stage. For anything useful to come from it would require real Republicans acting like real Republicans which has not happened to date. Otherwise Obama would have been impeached long ago.

    • Rudy Giuliani (former prosecutor) is just champing at the bit to have a go at Clinton. He says he wouldn’t have a problem convicting Hillary — he’s presented the most convincing legal arguments to date, imo. And since the statute of limitations will not have expired by the time Trump would be elected, there’s a possibility that Hillary may end up in the orange jumpsuit yet.

Obama will stamp his feet and Congress will wet their pants. We’ve been through this before.

Assuming it even gets that far. For his family’s sake, I hope his life insurance premiums are paid up, ideally with a rider covering freak accidents.

  • This farce should cost the man his job.

Why even bother any more to have Laws or obey them because if you get caught Speeding you just tell the Cop you made a “Hillary” and was careless and didn’t see any signs marked 60 mph top show Intent.

This may be good news for the taxpayers because the IRS will have a hard time in Courts after using the FBI to arrest people on Tax evasion and Business fraud to hide their records on a Server at their home and then wipe the drive clean which puts the onus on the IRS to prove you had intent , plus force them to retrieve the Tax Record to prove any Guilt.
If Hillary ends up as the President , how the hell can a Judge find a common Citizen Guilty of doing what Hillary did when the FBI and AG Lynch refused to Charge her for the Federal Offences in her Position of the Sec Of State .

    • V10_Rob

You’re assuming they’re even trying to maintain the pretense that the law is applied equally.

    • Double standards. Threats, bribes, and blackmail. Personal attacks.
      It’s Hillary’s and Obama’s MO.

  • huron

    does trump know something?

    • Maybe. One thing the media is missing that Comey stated (albeit briefly): Although there’s no evidence that Hillary’s server itself was hacked, at least seven (7) of the commercial servers she sent e-mail to on unsecure channels were in fact hacked. He mentioned G-Mail as an example.

I think this is where “Guccifer” comes into the picture. Maybe Putin and Russian intelligence can help out if Trump plays his cards right. After all, there was a time when we considered inviting Russia to join NATO — their human rights abuses certainly can’t be any worse than Turkey’s.

      Just a thought.

“Comey”. Sound like a good name for a range of pale yellow colours.

  • vimy

I’ve said it in the past and i say it again. Trump hasn’t played his ace that he has up his sleeve yet and now I’m wondering if Putin is his spotter at the card table.

  • Hard Little Machine

Why bother? You can’t prosecute him and you can’t shame a sociopath.
