Federal employment minister hints temporary foreign worker scam on the way for businesses

The feds may loosen restrictions preventing Canadian businesses from hiring low-wage temporary workers as more than 10% of their work force, starting at the end of July.

“For some sectors where we haven’t found the Canadians to fill those voids, it will make a huge challenge for businesses,” federal Employment Minister MaryAnn Mihychuk said.

“And if they can’t find that workforce, then they must have access to temporary foreign workers or we could lose businesses.”

Or maybe they could raise wages?

What sort of business relies on the government to subsidize its operations?

Isn’t that welfare?

You know what would be good?
    Replacing government workers with TFWs!

I think it is a great idea.

Government union workers don’t get “replaced”

Watch the government grow by hiring 10% foreigners for “divisity’s” sake
as TFWs, then the unions “forces” them to hire them as regulars.

      • dance…dancetotheradio

        I like that.

    • Clausewitz

How could you tell the difference?

  • The Butterfly

Translate(“We can’t find Canadians to fill these positions”) = “We refuse to pay Canadian wages to Canadians”

    • memphis

Work shall set you free,Freedom thur labour, now where have I heard these before, in some socialist dream perhaps.

    • dance…dancetotheradio

It’s no different in my mind than workers in seasonal industries working until their EI weeks are full enough to claim benefits
      It’s a business subsidy.

  • John

    Same-old, same-old.

Our extorted tax dollars are once again being used to subsidize the wealthy

We, the little people, pay the difference in wages, and that difference is then pocketed by business people.

    Cute scam, eh?

  • tom_billesley

What are they going to do with the refugee Democrats?

  • Exile1981

1st off the last 6 to 8 months i have seen less TFW’s at fast food places and more Canadians. Also i’m noticing more middle eastern TFW’s vs. phillipinoes

    • DD_Austin

      You shouldn’t see any
      not because they’re not there
but because you shouldn’t be there

The food is a POS, and the owners are as well
(baring the owner who leaked the mcquisling’s CEO
call with the federal labour minister)

      • Exile1981

Ever been to provost for work? If you get in after 8pm the only place to eat is the one fast food place. lots of small towns like that.

Did you see that the arches in Brooks was shut down for health violations? I never eat there as all the staff were body bags, so i correctly assumed it wasn’t safe.

        • Frances

The arches in Brooks was halal?

          • Exile1981

Not sure if the food was but 90% of the staff in 2015 had either head scarfs or burkhas on. The bathrooms were unsanitary then as well. In april of 2016 they got shut down for 4 weeks and brought in an outside company to clean/ sterilize the place.

          • Frances

Probably wives of the workers at the Brooks slaughterhouses. How did they cope with the BLT Bagel, the Bacon ‘n Egg Muffin, and other such delicacies?

          • Exile1981

I’m guessing your right about them being the wives or daughters.

I hit the roof when I read this:

This journalista can’t even write proper Hinglish!!! So how reliable is his/her story?

You can call me a Grammar Nazi if you like, but it comes from years of being an editor. Can’t help it. 😉

          I can’t help it, either.
It was delicious when the banquet sales manager sent out copies of the new menus every year for us to proofread.
That stupid woman loved saying irregardless and never met a sentence that she didn’t think should end with an exclamation point.
I’ve learned to temper it with regards to our fellow travellers here.
Unless they use the word loose in place of lose.

So basically those companies are inviable and everyone would be better off if they went bust so all the assets could be reallocate. Anyways nice to see how permanently entrenched crony capitalism is in Canada
