Chief Science Officer for Canada?

From Our Right to Know:

In our petition we ask the government to establish the position of Chief Science Officer through an act of law. Kennedy Stewart, the NDP Critic for Science, will take the petition forward. The more signatures we can garner, the more effective the petition will be.

Getting an independent Chief Science Officer is one of the building blocks of moving toward public science for the public good. By no stretch of the imagination is it sufficient — it will take many many different types of actions — but it is one important aspect. Reality check: The position will probably morph quite quickly into Grand Inquisitor, charged with protecting tax-funded bunk from criticism.  = There is altogether too much skepticism around these days.

      The Liberals have already created a special branch within the CRA, at the cost of several millions, to go after small family businesses. Puppet Trudeau considers family businesses just a front to avoid paying even more tax.
