Changing O Canada: Is God next?

Pity the poor Pagans. Don’t they have rights?

And what about the Rastafarians? To say nothing of the Satanists.

Such questions won’t seem so weird once the attention turns away from Liberal MP Mauril Bélanger’s heroic bid to update the rusty words of the national anthem. That’s because his bill leaves untouched some other words.

Those concern — can we talk about this? — an even touchier topic: the Christian God.

Very shortly it will be “Allah keep our land glorious and free!”

    • Alain

Right except for the free part. It will more likely be “keep our land glorious and pure under sharia.

For a couple of generations raised on the awe-inspiring magic of sfx and the deconstruction of narratives in their best McLuhanesque-fashion, the unabashed naivete never fails to amaze.

Is it just me, or does anybody else not see the grubby paws of those twin tricksters, Gerry and Omar, stage-managing this whole multi-scene psycho-drama?
(distract the sheeples and perhaps they won’t notice that the Dauphin didn’t get an invite to Bilderberg).

Let’s break it down, piece by piece:

*Haul out a dying man (cue the violins, please) and ensure that the cameras capture his every painful movement.
*At the same time we are going ape-sh** over changing some of the words of our national anthem (which have been changed before, if truth be known), I for one, find it fascinating that nobody has linked the parallel discussion about PAD to the plight of the dying MP. Or am I the only one?
*And of course, there’s that old magicians’s trick — watch this hand. Never mind what my other hand is doing.

I apologize for repeating myself: Smoke and mirrors, people. Smoke and mirrors.

I’m waiting for the Liberals to drag in an old lady on her hospital bed into parliament, to get their murder grandma bill passed.

This picture looks like they are getting ready to take this poor man out to the back forty and put a bullet in his head in the name of progress. Just look at that harridans expression.

      • Waffle

You think? He’s the leading man in this ultimate reality show. They have to keep him alive until the bill passes and until they have wrung every drop of emotion of the audience. Sick, sick, sick!

  • Alain

Since we are a post nation, why are they concerned about this? Our PM clearly stated we are no longer a nation.

  • What? They haven’t gotten rid of God already?

There will never be a point at which they are satisfied. There will always be another grievance that needs to be addressed.

Eventually the lyrics will be struck entirely, and the anthem will be just instrumental. At which point it will be deemed insensitive to the deaf.

      • No, it will be replaced with the American or Cuban or Chinese one.

Standing on guard for thee, sounds very military and violent. This is unacceptable in the new Sunny Ways Canada. Perhaps we can change it to “We reach out in peace”.

  • DD_Austin

Don’t know the words to the offal version
    Don’t give a rats ass that i don’t
I think I know one line

We stand on guard for prevs, muslims and klepocracy?

Why doesn’t he spend his final days raising awareness and funds for ALS research? One of the world’s most devastating illnesses. Looks like Mauril Benager proves that Liberalism is even deadlier disease than advance ALS.
