Who Will Write France’s Future?

Two high-profile French novels, dissimilar in timing and tone, portray two influential visions of France in the future. Not just good reads (and both translated into English), together they stimulate thought about the country’s crises of immigration and cultural change.

The gynaecologists will write France’s future:
“Male child born, named Mohammed, Mother’s name: Fatima, Father’s name: Mohammed, marriage status: claimed unmarried by state, siblings: 3 male, 2 female (all living). Three other similar young women with children demanded visiting rights to mother claiming to be co-wives of father.”

    Demographics is Destiny.

Russia is going to be swarmed from the east, Europe is going to be swarmed from the south. North America will be swarmed from the south. Australia and NZ will be swarmed from the north.

Well when I read the headline France: Israel’s Suspension of Palestinians’ Entry Permits Could Escalate Violence the only conclusion I could reach is that France will – and must – die.

In Caroline Glick’s most recent column in the Jerusalem Post, she contrasts the official antisemitism of the Hollande government with Netanyahu’s latest visit to Moscow. Putin apparently sees many things Bibi’s way and regards Israel as a strong horse while the EU is a weak horse. Israel is also being courted by India and China, which further weakens the EU’s clout.

I’ve read both. To be fair The Camp of the Saints while prescient, is a hard slog to read. Not a well written book.
