I read the full article. The judge partly blaimed the night club for tossing her on the side walk after she passed out, making it easy for these predators to abduct her.

The judge suggested the pub should have called her a taxi…. the abductors work as taxi drivers and used their van to abduct her; how would have calling a taxi have helped when the predators are taxi drivers?

Getting her into a taxi would have discharged their Duty Of Care.
One of my reasons for leaving the hospitality biz was because the Duty Of Care laws concerning serving alcohol were so onerous that I couldn’t risk them anymore.
In 2005, it was thirty two grand a year in salary and the liability of prison for one of my employees failing to notice that someone was too drunk to take care of themselves if they got pitched into a snowbank.
The irony is that my best friend killed himself by crawling into a snow filled ditch to die.

Did you grow up in Alberta? I often wonder by your comments of people you knew if we went to school together.

          I’m a Manitoba flatlander.
And I wish we did go to school together.

Nope i’ve only spent a couple days each on two work trips to MB and only as an adult.

A friend in junior high had an older brother who climbed into a snow bank one winter in northern Alberta.

That young woman has been damaged for life. These Neandertals, who have killed her body and soul, will be free to attack again. Vile ugly non evolved humans.

    • BillyHW

She would have given it away for free anyhow to the first jerk who would have asked.

Really? And you base this on …
I’m old-fashioned enough not to make this assumption!

Getting so blitzed in public that you’re passing out is a stupid and dangerous thing for any person to do.

I’m not excusing these 2 scumbags, but there’s a teachable lesson in this about not placing yourself in dangerous situations.

    • AlanUK

Fair comment but her “friends” had some responsibility. According o the link she got separated from them. Wasn’t there ANYBODY who was keeping an eye on things? In the past one person in a group stayed sober, primarily to act as driver but surely they sense of it ought to be obvious.
Nobody gets out of this well.
Of course, there could have been no abduction, sexual assault or rape without the actions of the two men of Asian origin.
