Tory leadership campaign needs fresh faces

It’s become increasingly clear the Conservative leadership race desperately needs an outsider or two to run for the job. The only problem is no outsiders have been clear they want the position. In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to even spot them on the horizon.

The three frontrunners in a recent Mainstreet Technologies poll that surveyed declared Tory supporters were Rona Ambrose, Kevin O’Leary and Peter MacKay.

With all the “ooh, he’s got nice hair and he’s gonna legalize pot” voters out there, the conservatives might as well take their ball and go home.

    • I think that is reflected in the lack of enthusiasm for this slow motion “race”.

Settling in for a decade or longer as the official opposition to the Muslim Party of Canada? I guess one can’t blame them.

Race? It looks more like the Bataan death march to me.

That, and whoever steps up to the plate will be the star of the media narrative the Liberal eunuchs have been itching to dust off…

what happened to Maxime Bernier? Ambrose is just a leftist wirth a few conservative traits and o’leary is a bombastic version of the donald without the means or skill to lead.

    • Ambrose can’t run, the rules do not let the Temp enter the race. She would be a disaster anyway.

As for Bernier I do not know if he is even interested in the job.

maybe the silver lining is that an as yet unknown real conservative might slip in uncontested and start rebuilding the party.

        • Alain

Man do I hope so, for if these are the lot I am out even without a political home.

me too but a hiatus for the party might be good to allow new talent to rise, i agree ,what we have now is repugnant.

      • Jay Currie

Oh, he’s interested. He’s set up a campaign committee and filed with the CPC for the leadership.

He is also the only candidate who has any credibility on the libertarian right…Go Maxime!

And the $50,000 leadership entry fee doesn’t help.
