Carbon pricing’s dirty secret

It’s hard to tell whether it was deliberate or a gaffe — meaning what happens when a politician accidentally tells the truth — but Ontario Climate Change Minister Glen Murray told the truth last week.

In an interview with the Sun’s Shawn Jeffords, he said cap-and-trade and other government decarbonization initiatives will be very expensive, which politicians almost never do.

  • Justin St.Denis

“…Ontario Climate Change Minister told the truth last week.”

Am I the only person to see the intrinsic contradiction in this statement? By definition, any person who accepts the mantle of “Climate Change Minister” is some kinda fucked-up to begin with. Such a person’s ethical and moral character is already compromised, hence “truth” is something that likely causes them an allergic reaction. Oh well, it’s only Ontario…..

    • Thw Wynne government is destroying Ontario’s economy with its bizarre ideology.

Swindles are always expensive for the marks stuck with the bills.
Worst case scenario: lots of money taxed to start paying it down and then hyperinflation come along courtesy of the same crooks and wrecks everything.

It’s Glen Murray, former mayor of Winnipeg.
The man who parlayed his work as an aids outreach worker into a council seat and eventually the mayoralty.
Back in the day there was actually a lot of good will towards him before he became the mayor.
      And then he turned.

      • Justin St.Denis

        Worms do that.

        • dance…dancetotheradio

          I left that open ended.
I’m glad you hit the tee ball.

“It’s Glen Murray, former mayor of Winnipeg.”
And now a fat, old Toronto elitist firmly mired in the carbon delusion.

This is going to get a whole lot worse for us. With the Wynne government creating a new agency to monitor our energy use I for see a time were each individual will be giving a carbon or energy ration card. It will mandate everyone to ration their carbon/energy use from the gasoline we use to drive our cars, home heating fuel, hydro usage, etc. If you go below your limit you can sell it to someone who has exceeded their limit and compliance will be mandatory. This is are Orwellian future which is driving us into energy poverty yet Patrick Brown will still want to implement a carbon pricing scheme if elected.

      stick a fork in Brown

      • ontario john

Brown is just another version of Wynne.

    • Patrick Brown is an ass from what I’ve seen so far, aside from that Wynne will be kept in power by the thieving unions.

      • Justin St.Denis

I had a glimmer of hope that Oatrick Brown would shake things up a bit. Boy, was I wrong on that score! Brown is the penultimate beta-male salamander. Kiss the Ontario Conservatives goodbye until they unload this mistake of a leader.

And good news for Ontario taxpayers. Our hydro rates go up today, because we didn’t use enough hydro during the winter. I know, it doesn’t make sense to me either, but hey this is Ontario. We love to pay taxes here.

    • Thieves. Kept in power by thieves.

Bond issues to raise the money required to build public utilities must be in line with projected revenue on the sale of the electricity product to repay the lenders throughout the future decades. A consumption of product shortfall equals a revenue shortfall equals financial instability which must be dealt with by a rate increase to eliminate losses.

The idiots in charge thought they could catch a windfall by curbing electricity consumption increases to the point where new expensive facilities to would not have to be built.
So “saving the provincial environment by using less electricity” is a stupid meme because they are already “saving” ever growing huge amounts of electricity through mismanagement of the economy.

      “Alternate Energy” :
a corrupt rent seeking con fronted by enviro – know nothing boobs.

The missing piece of the puzzle is a practical, safe, superbattery to store / provide energy instantly and thus stabilize the load at all times.

A battery no longer able to meet the criteria at some energy storage site containing thousands of these items could also be called an electricity bomb or perhaps more correctly, the “huge explosion initiator”. .

Some random thoughts, not necessarily in order:

** Buy precious metals (gold and silver coins or bars) to protect yourself from the price inflation that has already started. Right now the xchange rate is extremely favorable. You can buy 1 oz. silver Maple Leafs for about $27 CDN.

** Pity we don’t have any investigative journalists to do the deep digging to expose the nefarious deal between Wynne and the Bay Street whores. The Bay Street boys and girls have a very sweet deal selling (worthless) shares of Hydro One (trading symbol: H) while the bitch and her pretty, pretty boys are cleaning up on cap and trade. Nice — if you’re connected.

** Silly question, I know, but how come nobody reads McKay’s “Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds” anymore?

** How come people actually believe that carbon dioxide (a gas necessary for life on planet earth) can influence polar tilt and the direction of magnetic north and that turning off your lights and freezing in the dark can stop this? Just askin’. . .

This is just the beginning. Gerald Butts is paying very close attention and will issue marching orders along these lines to PM Shithead shortly. Ontario is just the template for the national economy.

I mainly loved the Smiths because of Johnny Marr.
As Noel Gallagher said, he’s so brilliant that even he doesn’t know what he’s fucking playing.
As for swishy, the realization that many of my musical heroes were gay gave me a sense of que sera sera growing up.
            Queen is crap, though.
