ISIS nuclear attack fears rise as Belgians given iodine pills to protect against radiation

Belgian MP Jean-Marc Nollet said: “Given the population density and the ongoing nuclear risk, this widespread distribution was absolutely necessary.

  • Modern multicultural Western Europe, isn’t it great?

    • Yea, they have been so enriched by Muslim immigration.

Anti radiation iodine pills being sent to all local drug stores.?
The Belgian leadership must be divided on taking even more serious actions like summoning the media to come over to the megabunker and take pictures of some fools wearing gas masks.

I’m not a doctor (nor do I play one on TV), but I am a registered Nuclear Energy Worker – yes there is such a thing. I think iodine pills are a waste of time.

Your thyroid gland absorbs iodine. Nuclear reactors can produce a radioactive isotope of iodine (i don’t think it is a particularly common isotope). If you take the iodine pills your thyroid absorbs it, then if you come into contact with radioactive iodine your thyroid is full.

They don’t do a damn thing to protect any other part of your body from any other of the forms of radiation that you might come in contact with.

And you have to start taking them before exposure.

  • I’m sure it’s nothing.

I wonder if the Belgian authorities know that something sinister is coming their way, hence their decision to distribute iodine tablets.

The words “Belgian authorities”, “know”, and “something” rarely need to be placed in close proximity.
