Child services grills Winnipeg mom after she let her kids play alone in their fenced-in backyard

WINNIPEG — A Winnipeg woman says she was reported to and investigated by Child and Family Services simply for letting her children play in her backyard.

Jacqui Kendrick, a stay-at-home mom, says a CFS worker showed up unexpectedly in early April, saying they had received a complaint about her children being unsupervised.

Wonder if the neighbour is really concerned, or just trying to make trouble for the family? That’s been known to happen, with unfounded complaints to CFS or similar agencies.

    • Very true.

Didn’t have any idea that the law in this wussified society now makes it mandatory to be helicopter parents. We’re screwed.

Unless the child was running around with an axe or something, I don’t see how it is anyone’s business but the parents. Mind your own damned business.

My God I used to leave in the morning and bike around with my friends until supper. How are kids today ever going to learn to be independent or gain any confidence in themselves if we don’t allow them too.
