Prince’s 1980’s Music Set To Make Unexpected Comeback, But He Won’t – Prince Dead at Age 57

Did the Grim Reaper bother to learn this move? He should have.

Did the Grim Reaper point just like this at Prince? We will never know, but he should have.

The artist known as Prince has died … TMZ has learned. He was 57.

Prince’s body was discovered at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota early Thursday morning.

Multiple sources connected to the singer confirmed he had passed. We’ve obtained the 911 call deputies received for a “male down, not breathing.”

The singer — full name Prince Rogers Nelson — had a medical emergency on April 15th that forced his private jet to make an emergency landing in Illinois. But he appeared at a concert the next day to assure his fans he was okay. His people told TMZ he was battling the flu.

  • This sucks. Prince was very talented. I’ll miss him.

      57 does seem pretty young.

Now TMZ is reporting he had a drug overdose 6 days ago.

I’d post one of his videos, but he or his people seems to have been scrubbing them from YouTube.

    • They’ve always been very hard to find online.

I never hated Prince, and I liked some of his songs, but if it were not for “girlfriends” listening to him, I’d have no idea who he was.
1999 from 1982 was my fave.

        • My housemate in high school listened to him constantly.

I only ever liked Raspberry Beret.

I don’t know if there’s a video for this, but it’s burned into my memory cells: Prince humping a set of giant speakers at the Gardens. It’s probably the site of Loblaw’s cheese department now. I’ll have to go and check

where did he get that from?
        (not a Prince fan)

‘Prince Rogers Nelson’. As a Royal Navy fan, I am uncomfortable with this name.

  • Clink9

I know diddley squat about him but a relative in the music biz told us years ago that Prince was a very hard working and respected by peers, behind the scenes guy.

    • Drunk_by_Noon

Yes, he had a very good work eithic and cared about what he put out, even if it didn’t click with his fans.

They say he hated the internet but he was texting in his song titles.
        Nothing Compares 2 U.

  • I really don’t like 2016 and it looks like it’s going to get worse.

    • Exile1981

      Today totally sucked.

  • Spatchcocked

Hmmmmppphhh! One fewer “entertainer” sapping the Christian moral virtue of our youth. One fewer enabler of his satanic majesty corrupting and poisoning our seed corn.

  • That was unexpected.

  • ismiselemeas

A musical genius, devout JW, humanitarian of the first order and one of the greatest all encompassing artists of the modern era. A huge loss.

  • Exile1981

he was funny in the 5th element.

    • luna

I never realized that was Prince until now.

      • Exile1981

He was poking fun at himself and other rock stars with that role.

I know and like that one.

  • Blind Druid

I wonder, when the truth comes out, if his C.O.D. will be the same as Freddy.

  • Brian Jones

I quite liked Prince’s ridiculous songs, but “battling the flu”? Right…

Can’t help but flashback to recently reading Nikki Sixx’s book (The Heroin Diaries) wherein he referred to “the flu” as a favored junkie excuse when they were sick or messed up.

    TMZ also had this:

If so, it’s quite sad to see yet another artist who wasn’t able to win that battle. (Well, it’s sad however he died, but I guess if it was drugs it seems sadder in the “damn shame, what a waste” sense.) It would be nice if TMZ is wrong, but I guess we’ll find out when the autopsy and toxicology are done.

His ex-girlfriend Vanity died earlier this year, and she certainly had been a junkie/crackhead back in the day (and later was Sixx’s girlfriend and drug buddy too).
