Thomas Mulcair is out – Time for a shiny new communist

NDP leader Thomas Muclair has lost the support of his party, but said he will stay on as leader until a replacement is chosen. A slim majority of delegates — 52 per cent —- voted in favour of holding a leadership race at the party’s convention in downtown Edmonton on Sunday.

It was an astonishingly low rate of support.

What I find more concerning is how extreme left some want to go from no one is illegal to banning companys from making a profit.

    • I say let the lunatic left run away with it. Justin will have to match them next election.

  • Ron MacDonald

Think positive, the NDP’s lunatic Left will steal Liberal votes.

    • Replacing one guy with another with the same ideas.

Yep. NDP supporters have thought this through.

    • reidjr

No with some of the ideas there looking at the Liberals will win more seats next election.

  • Stamping their feet after yet another defeat, NDP supporters throw away the least insane leader that they’ve had.

    • redijr

At the cult meeting they came just short of saying islam for Canada.

      • There is your insanity right there.

        • reidjr

Maybe they will wake up and not take many of these extreme ideas as policy but I doubt it.

          • As do I.

          • DavidinNorthBurnaby

The more extreme they become, the fewer votes they’ll get and that helps the Lieberals. As pathetic as the CPC is its all we currently have as an alternative to the two completely deranged leftist parties.

    • What really makes it awful is that the CBC just had Olivia Chow on.

      • (retching)

      • DMB

Olivia must be excited by this development for no doubt she will be the first person to announce her bid for leadership of the federal NDP.

        • I hope so, it will be fun to watch her lose again.

          • David Smith

You underestimate the sheer idiocy of these people.

          • Justin St.Denis

Chow’s mangled English meanderings somehow make sense to them. Scary shit!

      • dance…dancetotheradio

Was she talking about the peepoe?

  • Jaedo Drax

oh well, guess there is no point in saving this picture any more:

    • Justin St.Denis

Nice codpiece! Still, I don’t think they’ll be coming back in style anytime soon.

    • Damn!

    • I guess it was for the orphans or something.

  • ontario john

Naomi Klein and Stephen Lewis seem to be the big winners at the convention. With the adoption of their leap manifesto, I guess its communism for Canada as the platform.

    • reidjr

Ban profit and $15 min wage what can go wrong.

    • Leap Manifesto?

      Great Leap Forward. Communist Manifesto.

Why not call their playbook, “Harry Potter and the Secret Book of Policies”?

    • DavidinNorthBurnaby

Stephen Lewis should be put up against a wall and shot. msoc

  • Face it, Mulcair got out-Pinko’d by Justin. Now the dippers have to find somebody to out-Pinko Justin and return the commie flag to its rightful owners. It’s a race for the extreme Left, with both Parties trying to outdo one another. Conservatives are in the same race but they usually drag their feet for a couple years — Conservatives always look about the same way the extreme Left did a few years earlier.

    • Same thing happened in Ontario.

      • Sadly, where it hits home. Although Alberta sounds worse.

    • BrokenDrumsticks

Many there were claiming an allegiance with Bernie Sanders down in the US. Do they know something we don’t?

      • Justin St.Denis

Sometimes I think the majority of Canadians actually confuse American and Canadian politicians. I had some chap tell me that Bernie Sanders would be the next PM. When I told him Sanders was running for POTUS, he looked confused for a moment and said: “Yeah, well, if that doesn’t work out for him though he’ll be the next PM.” Yup. I was gobsmacked, too……

        • Exile1981

          I’ve met similar people.

          • Justin St.Denis

Depressing and surprising all rolled into one shit sausage.

          • Exile1981

I was at a community meeting last week… one person kept talking about the “great revolution” and the secret MIB’s controlled by the conservatives. He also refurred to Notley as “Dear Leader”.

          • Alain

          • DavidinNorthBurnaby

            Wow. Just wow.

        • Clausewitz

Sounds like a couple of English teacher’s I know.

        • DavidinNorthBurnaby

Want a depressing thought? That chap gets a vote.

    • FivePointSpurgeon

…and that’s the reason the right has no guts in Canada. Secretly they want the same things.

  • tom_billesley

Someone cast in the same mould as Bernie Sanders and Jeremy Corbyn?

  • Gary

Tom ruined it last year when he thought being pro-sharia to support the oppressive Niqab had pushed several NDP votes in Quebec away from the NDP while Liberals picked up votes that fled Harper by Justin’s racist smear .
But Justin didn’t tell the voters he’d go into debt with another $150 billion while also waiting to tell us he wants to bring in 50,000 Syrian muslims a year in the guise of refugees .

    • V10_Rob

All politicians exagerate the positives and lowball the costs of their plans. If Canadian voters couldn’t extrapolate those numbers, they deserve everything they get.

  • mauser 98

Justine the Drama Queen will steal the Leap Manifesto…
change name to Suzuki Castro Mind Meld
    win another majority

    • David Smith

      Like Billy said.

  • G2

No one is happier than Angry Tom. He would have quit with 50% plus one.
Once he realized that the “Jack bubble” was a bubble his heart has never been in this shit.
Now he can move to France spend his pension and live life.
The NDP will replace him with an even more ridiculous jackass and the decline of Canadian political conversation will continue apace.
Justin debating a completely insane raving leftist (of the Sanders ilk) – can’t wait for the next election.

  • Maurixio Garciasanchez

Now he will join the Harponiacs club .

    • Justin St.Denis

Maurixio, still making little to no sense after all these years.

      • Clausewitz

        Some things never change.

    • mauser 98

he will sell toilet paper to Venezuela
      capitalist pig

      • Maurixio Garciasanchez

Too for away for him , he will join the Harpomaniacs and guide them to the light oh hope .

  • dance…dancetotheradio

If he’d shaved his beard he might have won more seats.

    • ntt1

may be he has no chin..

      • dance…dancetotheradio

That says more about the endippy than it does about him.

  • simus1

The oligarchs and their bureaucrat running dogs have Ottawa back on automatic pilot with a suitable front man waving from the balcony.

M Malcair will be spending more time in France.
Everyone is back to square one.
