Rex Murphy: Dumping on Alberta in its own backyard

What an odd thing it is for the New Democratic Party to hold its national convention in Edmonton this weekend, since Alberta, as all Canada knows, is facing dire economic times due to the slump in its oil industry. And yet, before the convention even began, the party’s current leader, Tom Mulcair, announced quite enthusiastically that, should his party adopt a policy of “leaving fossil fuels in the ground,” he, as a CBC headline put it, “will do everything” to keep them there.

those are the eyes of a deranged man, like the weird kid that committed the sandy hook atrocity for example.

    • Don’t let him near sharp instruments.

      • Minicapt

There are no sharp instruments in the NDP.

        • Maurice Miner

JM, in that you are totally correct!

    • And that photo is after his wife let him out of the basement, got him all gussied up in his monkey suit, and made him presentable to the public. You should see Mulcair when he gets really angry — like when he has to tip the pizza delivery guy .25 cents.

That “kid” actually died the day before the alleged massacre at Sandy Hook, a school which had been shuttered for over five years and was not actually open when the “massacre” occurred. Look into it. So much MSM is utter lies and bullshit. Sandy Hook falls under the latter.

      • Wow, that’s quite a charge. Links and stuff? Must have missed it cause never heard it before.

You made your bed, Alberta. Now try to get some sleep in it.

Since “Canadian oil stays in the ground” is the policy decided on by America’s most prominent rent seekers who have the ear of Emperor Barry, it is no surprise that their top NDP errand boy would be sailing on the same course.

I have been watching some of the convention and I think were seeing the end of the party why just extreme ideas some want such as don’t allow companys to make a profit to take honour killings out of the criminal code.

Here’s hoping next election they’ll be on par with the Green’s.

  • Ron MacDonald

The NDP’s lunatic wing will be the cause of its demise. What it should be doing is becoming more focused on worker/employment issues in order to attract left of centre blue collar workers from the Liberals and Conservatives.

    • Justin St.Denis

The NDP lost interest in the blue-collar worker circa 1975. That is how/why pale, soft, flabby, coddled and entitled Bob Rae became an “NDP leader”.

      • Ron MacDonald

Now he is ruining the Liberal Party which is a good thing.

    • john s

Exactly. They could have made a lot of hay out of the temp foreign worker fiasco. What the hell is wrong with the left t these days?

Can anyone image a politician saying the same thing to a farmer by adopting a policy to leave crop in the ground and will do everything to leave them there. Mineral extraction of resources is similar to farming both are harvesting a resource from the ground for the benefit of the general population.

None of them give a damn about us, working Canadians. All they care about is their stupid ideology. I hate them.

I remain perplexed by the extraordinary resemblance between Tom Mulcair and Iran’s ayatollah Rouhani. I wonder whether they are one and the same man. It would explain so much about Tommy Two-Passports’ politics and political suicide over islamic woman-hiding headgear.
