Video: Tunisian women share insults they’ve received on the street

“Why are you so nervous? Do you have your period?” “You’re ugly, go home!” “You’re a girl, you can’t drive.” These are just a couple of examples from a video project in which filmmakers asked 60 Tunisian women to give examples of verbal sexual harassment they’ve faced on the street.

  • canminuteman

“60 years of independence and our bodies are still colonized territory.” I don’t think she knows what colonization means, and if Algeria was still part of France all algerians would probably be better off.

    • Likely so.

    • BillyHW

Their minds are all colonized by Islam.

    • Alain

Sorry, but she is full of it. The colonisation of female bodies is done by Islam, not France or any other Western country. Obtain independence from Islam, and end the colonisation of your body is what she should be told.

  • Drunk_by_Noon

This is in Tunisia, so why should I care?
No, really, why is this supposed to be my concern?
I could care less what some Tunisian feminist thinks, or what her existence is.
She is not now, and never will be, my ally.

    • Yea but a couple of are kinda cute.

      • Drunk_by_Noon

For whatever reason, women of that ethnic pool do not even budge my interest needle.
The one in the full Islamic Sharia approved trash bag getup even got “harassed” and I am thinking “by what”?

    • Kathy Prendergast

Just a reminder not to import any more Tunisian men to the west, if this is how they treat women in their own countries. But yes, like you I do not otherwise care. Feminism cannot make any inroads in a Muslim culture; if they really care about women’s rights all they can do is renounce Islam, get the hell out of that country and go somewhere where Muslims are a minority, marry non-Muslim men, and raise non-Muslim children. That will do more for feminism than spending a lifetime agitating and making videos in Tunisia.

That is so easy to say. Maybe you forgot that Canadian women did not always have the vote. Hm??? Maybe you forget that the silly feminazis of today are trashing all the hard work their mothers and grandmothers did in crashing through the pink ceiling.

Maybe you forget last week when a stylish, brilliant woman of Egyptian descent successfully defended a sick perverted male of Iranian descent against a lying female lynch mob?

These girls have guts and are probably (hopefully) the vanguard of a new society in Tunisia.

Read Lysistrata — you might learn something.

        • Drunk_by_Noon

That sounds nice Waffel, but at the end of the day every single one of them will be nothing but breeders for the umrah.
I see nothing to save, nothing to salvage, nothing I feel like rescuing.

          • Waffle

If Islam is ever going to get its head out of its 7th century a-hole, it will be because of its women. Yes, we are the breeders. We have the power. What’s that saying? — the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world 😉

          • Drunk_by_Noon

After 1,400 years, it’s not going to happen.
            It just isn’t.

        • David

Ask them what they think about Jews.

          • Waffle

            I don’t understand your point.

          • Alain

Yeah, I bet it is the same vile anti-Semitism as found with Muslim males.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

Didn’t the last of the Tunisian Jews evacuate in the last several months?
I thought I remembered reading that.

        • DavidinNorthBurnaby

” … sick perverted male of Iranian descent…”
Whom we’re all going to be paying big bucks again once he’s back with a new “hit” show on al Ceebeera. :rolleyes

        • Alain

Canadian women having the right to vote brings us such a better government: the Liberals. First it was “Trudeaumania” with the old man, and again much the same with junior.

          • Waffle

I wish I had the facts to argue with you, but somehow I think that a lot of men are and were guilty of Trudeaumania. A lot of guys were lined up at the trough for the perks and benefits of voting Liberal. For example, if you were a Toronto lawyer, it was hard to get anywhere in the profession if you weren’t a card-carrying member. The female hysteria was much more in your face because the media made a big deal out of it.

          • Alain

I don’t disagree that there were males also who voted for this, but a much bigger majority of women fell head over heels for both Trudeaus. I am just pointing out that giving women the right to vote is nothing of which to be proud, any more than giving everyone a vote even if they don’t work, live off the state and pay no taxes.

      • Norman_In_New_York

For years, elite feminists have been tiptoeing around Islam.

        • DavidinNorthBurnaby

I want Judy Rebick to encounter a couple of these examples of Tunisian “manhood” on a Canerdian street some time. I’m a yuge irony fan.

          • Justin St.Denis

Decontextualized but nonetheless you actually penned the four words “I want Judy Rebick”!!!!! And in that order!!!!!!!!

My mind is still reeling. I just never expected four words strung together to have such a VISUAL IMPACT on me, especially coming from one with an apparently male persona.

“I want Judy Rebick”. Meditate on those four words for a few seconds. I doubt they have EVER been expressed in black-and-white before, let alone spoken aloud. This is History-In-The-Making!!!!!!!!!!

David, you made my day! You shocked the daylights outta my mind momentarily, but you made today special. 😉

Hopefully, if you are married, nobody will tell your wife you said “I want Judy Rebick” because – think about it! – if a woman loses her spouse to Judy Rebick, she really might as well pump her skull full of lead.

          • DavidinNorthBurnaby

“”I want Judy Rebick”. Meditate on those four words for a few seconds.”
I did, and I threw up a bit in my mouth.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

When it comes to Feminists vs. Muslum troglodytes, it might as well be Aliens vs. Predator. We can only hope that the winner is so weakened that when we have to fight them, it will be easier.
Beyond that, ‘let the blood flow.

  • Hard Little Machine

You’re not killing enough Muslim men.

    • BillyHW

They only have themselves to blame.

  • Med1

If this was meant to garner my sympathy, it failed. Perhaps, these women should leave the world’s largest cult. I don’t see these “problems” happening in any of the other major religions of the world!

  • Oh come on. This is nothing compared to the Republican’s War On Women.
