Mexicans celebrate Easter by burning Trump in effigy

MEXICO CITY — Whom would you build, if you had to make a monster of mythical proportions? An evil equal to a biblical scourge? A traitor to be burned in effigy whose fiery demise would cleanse our corrupted souls?

In Mexico, that would be Donald J. Trump.

This looks more like Bill Clinton…

It’s almost as if they are scared of something, like their ability to thieve social capital, jobs, and welfare benefits, along with receiving remittance payments from their illegal relatives. Finally the cartel business will take a nosedive once their ability to traffic drugs north of the border and cash south of the border become almost impossible.
Mexican Christanity is mostly indistinguishable from paganism everywhere else.

Suck it up conchitas and enjoy your decline!

    • I can’t think of a better way to get Trump elected President than to have the Mexicans endorse him in this way;)

    • Alain

No, you just do not understand that this is a traditional Mexican custom dating back to the Aztecs.

      • Drunk_by_Noon

Didn’t we used to call such cultural traditions ‘that dated back to the Aztecs’ “pagan”?
        Yes, I think we did!

I thought the burning of effigies was a hangover from the Inquisition which has only been over for 200 years in Mexico. A short time, I know, but the cultural memory lives on.

        • Justin St.Denis

“Cultural memory” and “Mexicans” are two concepts which are difficult to reconcile in a single sentence. You’ll have to elaborate – a LOT! – for us to understand what you are getting at, I’m afraid. It might take a long, long time, too……

Fact: the Inquisition in Mexico was in effect from the early 1500’s to the early 1800’s. It affected every aspect of life. You don’t forget shit like that overnight. It lasts a long time.
Fact: I have Mexican friends who still refer to the Inqusition and probable Converso background in whispers. Today! The Spanish Conversos were the prime targets of the Inquisition. They were always suspect.

          • Is converso like marrano?

          • Waffle

The terms tend to be used interchangeably. I don’t use ‘marrano’ because of the negative connotations. I prefer to use the more neutral ‘converso’. Conversos are also referred to as “New Christians” (as opposed to “Old”). Marrano tends to be used derogatively. While it is true that some Jews thought they could hold on to their Judaism in secret, most accepted their conversion and raised their children as Christians.
Brief background: Jews were forced to convert at swordpoint following the massacres of 1392 and were under continual pressure throughout the 1400s to adopt Catholicism. The Inquisition came into effect in 1482. Unbaptized Jews were finally expelled in August 1492. Important to remember that all this took place against the backdrop of the Reconquista which prevailed when the armies of Ferdinand and Isabella conquered Granada, the last Muslim stronghold.

Justin, for such a wordly fellow that you profess to be, I’m amazed that you have such a narrow view of who and what Mexicans are.

      • Justin St.Denis

Trump is NOT that old, Alain! 😉

  • Dana Garcia

Mexicans should give thanks for Muslims. Without them, Mexicans would be better recognized as being high on the backward scale.

    Whiners…their con-job is over….

Effigy is a small town outside of Guadalajara.

  • DavidinNorthBurnaby

Maybe President Trump will celebrate next Easter by nuking Mexico. 😀

  • Bataviawillem

He must be the right guy, because the right people hate him.

  • Gary

It’s a win win because in the muslim world they are bring Obama’s.
This proves that muslims are a threat while Mexicans hate Trump because he’ll cut off the welfare and anchor babies. Mexicans want to kill the Nation financially while islamsists want to kill the people .
