Ghomeshi verdict: Not Guilty On All Charges

Update: Ghomeshi not guilty on all counts.

Going in to today’s verdict the consensus among lawyers pointed to Ghomeshi being found not guilty.

True to speculation the “omissions” by the “victims” cast too much doubt on their testimony for the verdict to be otherwise.

I don’t doubt that the women were assaulted as they described however their failure,  or someone’s failure, to probe their relationships with Ghomeshi at any depth has lead to this sad little trial.

I do not understand how they could have been so poorly prepared for cross examination let alone how this trial could have been given the go-ahead to begin with.

This whole sorry affair was to my view propelled by a cowardly politically correct lynch mob mentality.

The whole thing floated on a frothy, cartoon like tide of “Girl Power” & an entitled sense of feminist victim-hood that was completely disconnected from reality and to a degree the witnesses were swept up in those frenzied waters.

Sorry Twitter Feminists but Sailor Moon is about to be run out of town.

Oh this hurts! Topless protester interrupts press scrum

  • BillyHW

Women shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

    • The judge is savaging witness 1

      • David Murrell

Following the tweets from the CBC, the judge is savaging all three witnesses…

        • Yup he is going through each of their testimony individually, currently still on Lucy. One more to go.

          • Observer

My question is, when does the next trial start?

That is the lawsuit by Jian against the CBC for wrongful dismissal? Not that I support him in any way, but I bet he is going to demand a huge settlement from the CBC/taxpayers.

          • He faces another criminal trial in June. I am not sure of the status of the CBC wrongful dismissal suit – it is my understanding it is groundless as he was a Union member and must grieve this through the union. As I recall he sued CBC for 55 Million.

Further his dismissal had nothing to do with this trial or the next.

    • Etobicoke_Gladiator

I disagree of course, but might just wanna suspend the right of Trudeau supporters to vote ever again in their lives. 😉

      • Surele Surele

a number of ‘buyer’s remorse” this morning on Oakley (a bit ot)

    • David Murrell

Fully agree. One valuable reading supporting BillyHW’s contention is from the prophet Mohammed (pbuh), here, in Sura 2:282:

The Prophet said, ‘Isn’t the witness of a woman equal to half of that of a man?’ The women said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘This is because of the deficiency of a woman’s mind.’

      • Etobicoke_Gladiator

Praise be to Allah! BillyHW is a great Muslim, a modern prophet. 😉

        • David Murrell

Ugh! Jian Ghomeshi just found not guilty! Crummy justice system; crummy district attorneys; crummy witnesses. And a crummy CBC.

          • Clausewitz

We don’t have a “justice” system, only a “Legal” system. There is no Justice in Canadian law.

      • simus1

Some abused women are like putty if they see no hope of fleeing beyond the reach of their tormentors. Others are like foolish muslim daughters and sisters who think they can somehow outlast their affronts to islamic rules through charm and silliness. Then there are the cold calculators who think they “can take a punch and go the distance” if the prize is big enough.

        • David Murrell

Agreed. I am in a cruddy mood, and not just from the upcoming “innocent” verdict for Mr. Ghomeshi, and all the world news from the past three days. About an hour ago — on a balmy sunny day out here in the wilds of New Brunswick on a supposedly “peaceful” out-of-the way university campus — two Muslim women passed me by, both in full niqabs and chattering away in Arabic. Enough to set me off.

          • Etobicoke_Gladiator

Muslimas in NB? Praise be Allah and PM Trudeau! 😉

          • Justin St.Denis

The N.B. provincial govt is actively lobbying the Feds for MORE Syrian refugees. The wife and I were actually thinking of N.B. as our “next” province-of-residence. That move by N.B. KILLED any further consideration of that.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

N.B. views reffajeez as a cash cow.

          • Justin St.Denis

Yeah, we figured that out really quickly.

          • Clausewitz

Why would you move to NB. This is the province that voted to be a perpetual welfare case by outlawing fracking, and trying to stop a new oil refinery. All totaled they pissed away about 10,000 jobs because they knew that the equalization money from Alberta would bail out their asses.

          • Justin St.Denis

It was selfish. N. B. Is touted as being good for healthcare, and seniors, and seniors’ healthcare. My wife is a worrier. We both enjoy coastal living and are athletic and “getting up there”. The kids are off and married. I am semi-retired. We have “expendable income” for travel and “frills”. And we are looking to indulge ourselves for the first time in decades. Do the math. 😉

          • bargogx1

They have great fish and chips there.

          • mauser 98

            full niqabs in NB?…yikes

      • The Butterfly

From the looks of this trial, it looks like a woman’s testimony isn’t even worth one quarter of a man’s.

Funny how that math works out.

        • Lupus

2+2=5? Funny how when you are caught in a lie your credibility takes a hit. Not a Ghomeshi fan but I do like the whole truth. Cherry picking or inventing ‘facts’ doesn’t tell the whole story.

          • Billy was being sarcastic.

          • Etobicoke_Gladiator

Indeed, the joke is becoming rather stale at this point…..

          • David Murrell

            No he wasn’t. He’s a Muslim troll.

          • Lupus

My bad, I don’t see sarcasm in print unless it’s followed by [/sarc]

          • David Murrell

BillyHW’s and the Koran’s math is often wrong. We can either accept Western thought, or BillyHW/Koranic thought, but not both. One of the fundamental themes of this web site is the incompatibility of Islam to decent society.

          • David

Ayatollah Khomeini! “Allah did not create man so that he could have fun. The aim of creation was for mankind to be put to the test through hardship and prayer. An Islamic regime must be serious in every field. There are no jokes in Islam. There is no humor in Islam. There is no fun in Islam. There can be no fun and joy in whatever is serious.

            Lighten up.

  • DeCoutere was dismissed as unreliable – “”Despite formal caution…Ms. DeCoutere consciously proceeded to suppress (relevant) information…Willful carelessness with the truth.”

  • Judge on Lucy – Despite it being odd, it’s still important. “Deliberately withholding this information” reflects poorly on her trustworthiness.

  • “All of the extreme animosity expressed since going public…seems to stand in stark contrast” w correspondence in 2003/2004.

    • The Butterfly

Your females strike me as unstable.

      • Not at all. It’s just that these women identified as rape victims.

        • Justin St.Denis

          Wuzzatta joke?

          • Yup.

          • Justin St.Denis

Hard to tell in comments about this surreal case what is meant seriously, what is meant humorously, what is actual quotes from persons involved in the case, what is repeated MSM commentary, etc. I’m sure you understand my confusion. Seems I heard somewhere that at least one “victim” did use the “R” word. But in the end, I really don’t care if these people beat the living daylights out of each other. I just don’t want to be paying for it/them ever again.

  • Some of these feminists are just whacked! But you knew that!

    • k1962

      Oh they’re definitely not invisible.

  • On Lucy – “It is the suppression of evidence…that drives my concern of the reliability of this witness, not her..motivations in doing so.”

  • “The extreme dedication to bringing down #Ghomeshi” is “vividly” evident in the FB correspondence with Lucy.

  • Witness 3 is toast as well… Said she didn’t think the handjob qualified as sex. Then email “still wanna have a drink sometime?” Not cred if wanted to keep distance.

    • dance…dancetotheradio

Perhaps she was using the Clintonian definition of sex.

  • simus1

Think of Churchill sending reinforcements to Greece in WW2. It was a foolish military move but an astute political one. This trial was similar.

  • Liberal Progressive

So is the acquittal a multicultural win against these white-privileged women? I’m confused.

    • Etobicoke_Gladiator

I’m trying to figure out the Mike Duffy angle on this trial… *scratching head*

    • Damn right it is!

  • Reader
    • Etobicoke_Gladiator

Both have the initials “JT”. Coincidence? I think not! 😉

    • Well timed;)

  • Gaylord Ponce

Two skanks and a psycho. What could possibly go wrong?

    • El Martyachi

He’s just jealous of gals privileged beatings and feeling excluded.

“But there is no question that this happened because there is someone who feels completely excluded. … And our approach has to be, where do those tensions come from?”

  • truepeers

There is the law and then there is common sense. Just take one look at the big perma smirk. The CBC audience should be denied the vote.

    • Agreed;)

    • Justin St.Denis

Truepeers, that is a true insight!

  • El Martyachi
    • The nuttiness knows no end.

      • El Martyachi

In fairness, not all women are stupid cunts.

        • Not at all but the Twitter feminists are truly in a class by themselves.

    • reidjr

Give me hope in our legal system.

  • SDMatt

A topless protester with past victims’ names scrawled on her back jumped up and started screeching in front of the Crown attorney as he gave his comments to the Press.

A couple of burly male cops grabbed her, started to drag her away from Old City Hall, thought better of it and reversed their path and took her face-down/boobs-down up the steps and into the building. I think that’s the kind of treatment she wanted; I certainly enjoyed it.

Then the CITY-TV “reporter” started citing the names of “luminaries” – and I use that term derisively – who have been tweeting “I Believe The Victims:” Naomi Klein, Kristyn Wong-Tam, Cheri “Always Wrong” De Novo, etc.

No word on what Gwyneth Paltrow thinks, so I’ll give you my opinion when she gives it to me.

    • reidjr

What gets me is these lets women would have no issue sending innocent males to jail.

      • Waffle

That’s social justice today. But I don’t know if Jian is really innocent. Today’s verdict is a victory for that terribly dated and old-fashioned virtue of telling the truth. The means does not justify a desired end. Sorry SJWs.

Also a victory for the value of doing the hard work and not taking shorts cuts. Marie Heinen should get a medal. The Crown demonstrated itself to be a bunch o lazy, politicized slackers.

    • Here it is in part on film, you will have to go to twitter to see the clip run.

    • Waffle

      All the usual suspects.

    • bargogx1

Gwyneth thinks we should all have a nice gluten-free kale smoothie.

  • canminuteman

He was charged with”overcoming resistance by choking”. Who knew that was a separate charge? Couldn’t that just be considered assault without making it its own specific crime? Now that I know its a specific crime, I’ll have to find another way to overcome resistance.

  • Justin St.Denis

Oh yeah, the girls really fucked this one up badly! Stupid, silly……..

  • UCSPanther

You know, someone should draw some hentai of Sailor Moon getting it from Jian himself…

  • andycanuck

Big Ears Teddy will be celebrating tonight!

  • terrence

As I have said many times, Canada does NOT have a JUSTICE system, let alone a LEGAL system, we have a LAWYER system (all judges were/are lawyers).

  • Tom Forsythe

This case reveals the idiocy of modern Canadian law. You can’t consent to an assault causing bodily harm, but you have the fundamental human right to be euthanized, if you demand it. Women can be soldiers, but those female soldiers can’t even defend themselves against a wimp like Ghomeshi. The rule of law is dead.

  • Tom Forsythe

If he got away with this, he can get away with anything:

    • That’s a crime against humanity.

      • Justin St.Denis

Moxy Fruvous was a crime against humanity.

    • bargogx1

These guys, along with Barenaked Ladies, were part of an extremely annoying musical trend at the time. At least I thought it was extremely annoying. A lot of people seemed to like it, but I could never quite figure out why.

  • ismiselemeas

The judge was point perfect in every aspect of his findings and conclusions. This was the only decision he could have made and the only decision that should have been made. Ghomeshi is a horrid, nasty, narcissistic waste of print space but he was not guilty of the charges. I hope the police see fit to bring charges against his accusers and I’m looking forward to seeing heads explode everywhere if they do. The pre trial show on CBC 2 this morning was a celebration of illiteracy, mob justice, feminist triumphalism, the abandonment of reason and facts, dire hosting and reporting and puke inducing sloganeering. I’ve listened to some truly appalling radio here but that was the worst I’ve ever heard.

  • DMB

It pays to be connected with the CBC even after being fired for these allegations which with the not guilty verdict he will no doubt get his job at the CBC back and he will become untouchable with of coarse with a few friends in high places. Having said that with all the excitement he must be feeling with the not guilty verdict he no doubtfully rushed home to tell BAD NEWS BEAR the good news in spite of the tension he as been feeling lately.
