What if Pygmies Are a Different Species? That Might be Good for the Pygmies.

Um, please don’t make me regret I posted this, guys. The pygmies are a very unique, genetically isolated group. I should also stress that even if they could be categorized as a separate species, that doesn’t mean they’re not human.

  • I like Pygmies.

    …maybe related
A new species or a small Homo sapiens?

    Subspecies maybe.
If they were a different species entirely, we couldn’t mate, and I’m pretty sure we can.

Don’t forget the family matriarch’s collection of tiny eyeballs on a string like pearls…

They are far more human than any jihadist.

Reminds me of the old classic by Randy Newman, short people.

Pygmies may be different, but Pygmies ‘R’ Us.

Darwin classed the African negro as a sub-species yet to evolve from the stone age as they have not yet developed a written language of their own , even though we are in 2016 that has yet to happen [ just saying ]

African pygmies are not “short” as I am: short-statured. They are small, but with typical human proportions. I am prepared to consider them a separate sub-species.

An old definition of “separate species” noted that hybrids were not (usually) fertile. An example is the mule or hinny. I do not know what modern geneticists use to define “separate species”. Anyhow, are hybrids between African Pygmies and other humans fertile?
