Conrad Black: Don’t underestimate Donald Trump. He will win

It is with great regret that I take public issue with my colleague John Robson, a columnist and editorial writer for the National Post, in this case over his comments on Donald Trump in this newspaper on Monday.

John completely missed the point of the Trump candidacy. Donald Trump polled extensively last year and confirmed his suspicion that between 30 and 40 per cent of American adults, cutting across all ethnic, geographic, and demographic lines, were angry, fearful and ashamed at the ineptitude of their federal government.

I can only hope things turn out that well.

      • If Trump could deliver term limits, it would be a landslide.

  • Shebel

I never wanted Trump to win – but now that rich Republicans are afraid of him—It would probably be a good thing . Besides–
It would be Justin’s worst nightmare.

    • Minicapt

Think of Justine having to deal with a President Cruz.

      Cheers

      • V10_Rob

Ehhhh, it’s just not the same, though. It’d be an awkward meeting, but Cruz would be diplomatic.

Trump would call him a moron to his face, on live TV.

        • luna

Trump would do that with our allies, yes.

          • V10_Rob

            Our… what?

          • G

“Our allies”. From this I would guess you are American or pretending to be one.
If you lived in Canada or were honest you would realize what poor allies Canadians are.
JFK once nailed it, “In times of trouble Canada will offer all assistance short of help.
Antiamericanism is a way of life here that is actively encouraged by government agencies (CBC).
The American people would be well served by a president would kick a Canadian PM in his useless coward ass.

So, until either, you know what you’re talking about or stop pretending not to maybe you should shu up about Canada being an “ally”

          • luna

If Canada is not a U.S. ally, and you are Canadian, and you support Trump, then Trump must be bad for America.

          • G

Your strange, short, responses show how limited your thinking is.
You, and your RINO establishment friends don’t get and don’t care. Between Trump and Cruz (who is running on a fiercely anti-Washington platform) the elites are in big trouble.

            Your answer to this anger?
Cutesy-poo Trump bashing sound bite responses.
He’s going to win unless the the GOP pulls some sneaky back room shit.
(In a way I hope they do. The backlash will be devastating).
If a Trump candidacy bothers you? – Terrific!!!!

          • luna

Trump may be the republican nominee, but he won’t be president. His supporters, but him will be the losers.

Trump bothers me because he has no respect for people or laws, as commander in chief that’s dangerous.

You reference South Park to support your position? Who’s next? Scooby Doo?
My position regarding your limited thinking was just validated.

While the pollsters chose not to disclose how they determined the demographics and IQ scores of the poll respondents, they made it absolutely clear that Trump voters had IQ scores ranging from 55 to 85 (mentally inadequate to low intelligence). The average IQ scores of Americans range between 86 and 100.

          • luna

By the way, strange, short response, which shows limited thinking according to you, is in fact a perfectly logical argument to disregard your opinion on U.S. politics.

          • Too bad.

          • WalterBannon

            Turdeau is no friend

        • Minicapt

Justine: “My, what pretty hands you have, President Trump”.
DonJohn: “You have terrific taste. How can we deal better with you? Would you like a package of fabulous Trump peanuts?”

          Cheers

        • mauser 98

          ‘would stand and cheer

  • Shebel

Honestly–if Trumps’ only game is to be the head of the Republicans— then he should just quit. I guess that I would take Sanders over Hillary. Strange.

    • mauser 98

Hillary could make Sanders her VP… not loose any votes

  • Xavier

The GOP meets in April to plot. Don’t underestimate them either.

    • Justin St.Denis

The GOP’s ability to shoot itself in the foot should never be underestimated. Perhaps AFTER Trump, the GOP will be different.

Conrad Black backed Trudeau in the last election saying that Trudeau….
“…… has earned his chance. We really cannot have another four years of government by a sadistic Victorian schoolmaster.”
He should be reminded of this at every opportunity.

Donald will win the Nod. Then Lose to Hillary.

And if by some Miracle Cruz beats him. He’s go Independent.

I’m not the conspiratorial type, however, whether by design or unhappy accident it seems Donald exists to guarantee the Hillary is elected. Even if he loses to Cruz and does run independent the only voters who would vote for him are people who would not vote for Hillary and take away potential votes for Cruz.
