Ontario electricity rates fastest rising in North America

It has been a bad nine years for electricity customers in Ontario.

Hydro prices for residential customers have increased at a faster rate than anywhere else in North America.

But you wouldn’t know it by listening to Energy Minister Bob Chiarelli, who said Ontario ratepayers are seeing power bills “increasing slower than they are in neighbouring jurisdictions.”

In fact, no typical residential customers in any of the 50 U.S. states or Canada’s nine other provinces have seen the price of power increase at a faster rate than Ontario customers.

Would Bob lie to his constituents? Say it isn’t so! The same Bob that didn’t do a cost benefit analysis before installing wireless power meters and now has to remove 36,000 of them? That Boob?

If Mr Ed was deliberately trying to destroy this province, I can’t think of a single thing she’d be doing differently.

Today’s price for a kWh at 1:00pm is $0.0017, wholesale.
The February average for a kWh was $0.0126.

The Global Adjustment (also know as how much money the generating utilities lose selling at the wholesale price) for January is $0.0918/kWh.

Only the government could take a product that everyone needs, sell it at a loss, and claim to be trying to make it up on volume.

Meanwhile the National post is reporting that the head of the United Nation’s panel on global warming has been charge with sex crimes.

Wood heat, gas range + water heater here….wouldn’t take much to say piss on the Hydro…they’d better pay attention…in another 10 years hydro wires and poles might be a thing of the past….

I have heard of a few people who have retired to cottage country and live off the grid.
