Can Google’s Driverless Car Project Survive a Fatal Accident?

Everybody knew this day would come.

After several years and more than 1.4 million miles of test driving, Google’s perfect streak came to an end. In all that time, the tech giant’s self-driving cars had been in fewer than two dozen minor accidents, none of which were caused by the autonomous vehicles.

On February 14, that changed.

When it comes to parking, some vehicles are more equal than others.

It sounds bad until you look at how many people are killed by cars that HAVE drivers in them, then the robots look pretty good.
I want robots to drive me home from a night out drinking, just like the good old days.
I can’t believe all the stuff we got away with.

I know, I know, so many times in the past I drove my McLaren F1 home as full as a tick. Fortunately, because I was earning $98 per hour, I could afford the petrol, and when Plod came up behind me with their flashing blue lights, man oh man, I’d just floor that motherfucker right into the next county!

Plod didn’t have a chance against me!

These days, yeah, an autonomous car would be cool.

An autonomous F1 would be even better.

I like the idea of being able to flip on the auto-pilot to commute or travel long distances.

I just don’t like any idea of it being forced upon me because “it’s safer.”

The automatic elevator (UK: lift) industry has survived fatal accidents. There aren’t many elevator operators still in employment.

I look at driverless cars the same way I look at a palestinian on a motorcycle….. potential suicide bomb.

I think the security aspects leave much to be desired.
