Al-Qaeda calls on Indian Muslims to wage jihad in government website hack

Al-Qaeda hacked into an India government website on Tuesday to issue a plea to the country’s Muslims to rise from their “slumber” and join its global jihad.

In a rallying cry purportedly written by the head of the terror group’s south Asian branch, al-Qaeda in the Indian Sub-Continent (AQIS), it asked why India’s 172 million Muslims had not risen up to join jihadists fighting in the Middle East and elsewhere.

“Why is it that the Muslims of India are totally absent from the fields of jihad?” it asked. “How can you remain in your slumber when the Muslims of the world are awakening?”
