You’re gonna need more peanuts… a lot more

An elephant taking part in holy festivities at the Bhagavathi Temple in Pulappatta in the south Indian state of Kerala, turned against the occasion and went on a wild rampage on Thursday.

According to local reports, the elephant’s rampage lasted several hours during which it smashed and overturned an auto rickshaw, a pick-up van and slung several motorbikes with its trunk.

Although several vehicles were destroyed, nobody was injured in the incident and the elephant was eventually brought under control.

    I’m not a peta person.
    But I get this.

I am an animal lover, and root for the elephant here. Many elephants are abused in India.

It’s amazing how strong an elephant is. Tossing a truck around as if it were nothing.

Their heft and strength is something to be respected……

Hey , wake-up boys . It was showing you it was hungry by eating up grass ….so just toss it a large fruit to make peace.

      • DavidinNorthBurnaby

Wow, he just flung those guys with a flick of his trunk. Amazing strength.

  • Spatchcocked

Sure it’s cute buddy but can you pick up peanuts with it ?

    That is one cool mahout.
Perhaps when it comes to motor vehicles they have the same thoughts.

There was a youtube video if a kayaker’s last moments on Earth.
Not sure where he was but this dolt was going down a shallow river and spotted a group of them by the shore that stopped for water. He tough it was oh so cute and paddled in even when the huge mother was protecting her new born and kick dirt and flapped her ears to get away.
He must have seen too many Disney flicks because once he got to the shore his video camera recorded the noise coming from her trunk as she rushed him and stomped him dead.
Elephant’s can smell a threat from as far away as a mile when it’s down wind from the predator.
But I know that an adult elephant can get to 5 metric tonnes and it would rather not fight which is fine with me , I would have made my way to a safe area and change my soiled underwear.
Kayaking closer to a new mom with her calf would not be on my mind .

Many times checked a heifer going to have a calf in the pasture. Went out early morning …there’s little Ferdinand standing alone with mom cow making a flanking charge at me…coming on like Man o War….I did a few turns of the manure pile to confuse her and 22 skidoo.
All those times bringing the cows in from pasture for milking….they’d troop obediently behind me all of six years old…they want to grub up and be milked so their minds? are focused kinda.
But they can be ornery trying squeeze you and such….or kick you… biting I remember.

I want one for my morning commute, imagine just tossing those irritating compact ricer racers off to the side and spanking errant pedestrians of course 600 pounds of browse /day is not going to come cheap.

When you see this, than you realise that those elephants you see working in the forest industry are not even using 10% of there strength.
