Ezra Levant applies to resign from Alberta Law Society

Conservative media commentator and lawyer Ezra Levant, who faces disciplinary charges over an incendiary newspaper column, has applied to resign from the legal profession.

In a hearing next Wednesday in Calgary, a three-member committee of the Alberta Law Society will consider his request. Under Alberta law, a resignation during disciplinary proceedings is deemed a disbarment – being tossed out of the legal profession.

But Mr. Levant, who considers himself a free-speech advocate, said he will resign only if the law society addresses the charges against him first.

    Fuck the law societies.

The law society is beneath contempt harassing Mr. Levant in this manner. Mr. Levant is better off not being a member of a society that prostitutes it’s self in this manner.

The Grope&Flail ………… reminds of one of those odd corpses that slowly mummifies over time instead of having a good quick rot and getting it over with.

    • David Murrell

In the left-wing Globe article, it mentions that one complainant against Ezra, one Arman Chak, is now a director of the Alberta Law society. Talk about a cozy, close-knit establishment!

fight like hell Ezra. let them talk about how ugly & hippicritical
    they are are.

Let’s see. The Law Society let the Muslim Sock Puppets in so they can immediately attack using Lawfare, but they refuse to let Law Students from a Christian College in. In the flowery speech of the legal profession, “Dear Law Societies, go Fuck Thyselves”.

So, “a supernova of crazy” is too tame a characterization.

Sunshine and vigorous criticism is what makes good government possible. Immunity from criticism will “weaken or destroy public confidence[.]”

Sounds like the objectors here think fascism and totalitarianism is a good thing. They have their reasoning all upside down.

What should be challenged? The power of professional groups to self-regulate. Lawyers regulating lawyers, doctors regulating doctors etc. etc, should be challenged in the courts. Self-regulating societies and associations are a coterie, a clique, and old boys club. They are an anachronism, a throw back to a class based system of privilege.

There are no people more thin skinned than judges and tyrannical judge wanna-bes on “quasi-judicial commissions”.

These scumbags are appointed by whatever politician they kiss ass to the most and we, the dirty peasants as supposed to afford them the respect and worship of gods.

To hell with that. If Levant is facing censure by a group of back room manipulators simply because he accurately described a bunch of petty despots then we should come to his aid.

Begin writing letters to the HRCs federally and in each province criticizing them far more harshly then Levant ever did.
