Melkite Patriarch Gregory III Laham

An Update on the “Islamo-Christian”

Why he continues to exist despite Islam’s continued slaugher of Christians.

The phenomenon of the Islamo-Christian” deserves wider attention, and the word wider use. An “Islamo-Christian” is, in its strictest sense, a Christian Arab who identifies with and works to advance the Islamic agenda, out of fear or out of a belief that his “Arabness” requires loyalty to Islam. Islamization by the Arab Muslim conquerors of Mesopotamia, Syria, and North Africa was a vehicle for Arab imperialism. This imperialism, the most successful in human history, convinced those who accepted Islam to also forget their own pre-Islamic or non-Islamic pasts. It caused them, in many cases, to forget their own languages and to adopt Arabic — and in using Arabic, and in adopting Arabic names, within a few generations they had convinced themselves that they were Arabs.

We have a word for this in the West. It’s called Stockholm Syndrome.

I think there are various reasons for this phenomenon. In cases like John Esposito’s don’t discount the money. That guy has built a career on being a ‘Catholic’ apologist for Islam, and is probably raking it in, hand over fist. He’s the director of something called the Prince Alwaleed Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, which I assume is financed by Prince Alwaleed. How much money is Esposito getting out of this? How many similar apologists are getting Middle Eastern money to do what they do?

As to those Greek Melkites and more traditional dhimmis, I think they’re a brilliant example of that dictum that if you plunge a frog in boiling water, it will immediately jump out; if you put it in cold water and slowly raise the temperature, it will boil to death without protest. There was a time when Muslims had the sense to raise the temperature slowly. Unlike, say, Catholics, they didn’t burn people at the stake, and got much better results.

They didn’t have to burn people at the stake. They just made life difficult such that conversion was the easy out.
