‘This house is not for living,’ say Syrian refugees living in Edmonton

They claim bedbugs infest the house.

Inspections and multiple pest control sprayings say otherwise.

Nearly 40 people have come to inspect his house since June, El Hindawi said, but after each time and each chemical treatment for pests, he said the bug bites keep showing up on his children.

What’s up?

My great grandparents lived in a hole they dug on the prairies in the late 1880s….one from Vienna… from “some place with a lot of Turks” but spoke only German.
As a special treat for birthdays etc the Austrian mother would mix up a slurry from mud and wipe the floor just before bed. When all awoke they were cheered to see the frozen mud on the dirt floor looking like Chocolate!!!!……like a lovely Viennese dessert.

    • Wow!

    • Brett_McS

Mine got evicted from their hole in the ground.

Could be hives, or psychosomatic. Possible triggers include stress.

Why do western leaders insist on bringing on bringing refugees to their countries?

Ben Carson visited refugee camps (I believe in Jordan) and reported back that the refugee want help, and want to return to their homes. They don’t want to go to a foreign land. He was ridiculed for saying this by “progressive” media (TYT in particular).

    • Evidently the Canadian government has been hard pressed to find an abundance of refugees who want to come here.

I suspect we will end up with a situation similar to what happened with our “Lebanese” and Sr Lankan refugees – they return home and keep their Canadian passports.

      • The Butterfly

Passport “Canadians” are not real Canadians.

        • Etobicoke_Gladiator

But they sure love our Medicare! *sigh*

      • Yo Mama

And often continue to get their welfare checks under multiple identities cashed here and part of it forwarded to them monthly in their homelands while they illegally sublet their government subsidized public housing and have that money sent to them too.

    • Dr Carson grew up in worse conditions than these ingrates.

      • luna

Worse than Edmonton, yes. Not worse than Syria though.

        • Physics grad

who cares. syria should be nuked. there is no one there worth salvaging.

          • luna

I’m afraid Putin may respectfully disagree.

    • Ed

Suppose it could by a lot of things. Top of the list of possibilities is that he wants a nicer house and is believes a country stupid enough to let him in and put him up for free will be stupid enough to upgrade his digs if he whines loud enough. (He obviously doesn’t find the world too hard a place to prevent him from cranking out kid after kid.)

      • Canadian

        Bedbugs or not…

        • Clausewitz

I thought the progeny “were” the bed bugs?

  • ntt1

Looks like those clever Mossad bastards have found a way to create weaponized cyborg bedbugs .next the slippers will disappear…..

    • ontario john

I blame Harper. He is Hitler.

  • Outrageous! If I were him, I would withhold the rent check! Oh, wait, what? He doesn’t pay the rent? He gets paid $700 a month to live there instead of having Assad dropping barrel bombs on him and his mini-hoard? Then he’s going to be GIVEN a free education so he can get a job? Um, well, maybe the house is substandard for a paying tenant…

But then, when, exactly did we make the transition to a society in which beggars CAN be choosers? Was it when men became able to choose to be women and women could choose to be men? Was it when a third and fourth gender was added to the list of allowable? Was it when living in dignity became the goal of welfare payments instead of tiding people over until they could get back on their feet? Or perhaps it was when self esteem became more important than achievement.

Ahh whatever, the house is not for living? How about your boots Mo? Are they made for walking? Why don’t you walk on back to Syria?

  • ontario john

When my family came over from England in the 1800s, they had to clear the land and build their own house and barn. The grave yard has too many family members who died building their dream at that time, including young children. No “Sunny Ways” for them. I’m sure Trudeau will be rushing to the muslim home for a selfie. Maybe he can take his wife and she can sing a song.

  • chuck_2012

Here is my suggestion….simply f-off back to your homeland. Leave canada to the real canadians, not a bunch of grabby whiners from camel land such as you and your fambly.

  • Ron MacDonald

Canadian citizens living in Toronto public housing have to endure even worse conditions.

    • Liberal Progressive

Yes but we should have realized there are no bugs or pests or diseases in Syria or the Middle East before we forced them to come here and live with our problems.

      • Ron MacDonald

He came over in 2014, why didn’t he find a job in the oil fields, it was still booming when he arrived.

  • Liberal Progressive

Any progressive person must agree with them.

If they have done us the privilege of letting us bring them here to enrich our cultureless country, the least we can do is to expropriate some houses in Rosedale or Forest Hill in Toronto to give tor these people and provide them with at least $2,000 per person per month for helping improve Canada and to prove we aren’t all racist white people.

    • k1962

Yeah, the same way the British put suppressed muslim families in mansions. Hey, maybe they should just “go” to England.

      • k1962

        That should read super-sized…

      • Physics grad

they should go in the hopper of a wood chipper

    • mauser 98

that would be $8000 per month for a family of 4
almost enough taxpayer money to make Premier Strapons Sunshine List
with some more handouts they could be in the evil 1%er club

  • Liberal Progressive

I think we should start a KickStarter page to fund raise to buy them this small house in Toronto. Its pretty inconvenient because it is not close to a mosque but hopefully we can then fund raise for more refugee housing on the street until we can find donors for a nice mosque there too.

    • That place looks so cold! And the price leaves me cold!

    • Yo Mama

I think that would be racist segregation putting them into that house.

It only has 3 bedrooms so where is the room for their siblings, parents and grandparents when they sponsor their extended family and those claiming to be their family to come to Canada?

Don’t you want us to buy them at least a 5 or 6 bedroom house and to cover all the taxes and utilities for it too into perpetuity?

    • mobuyus

Are there no surplus church’s or temple’s that could be readily converted into mosks?

    • mauser 98

you forgot the camel pee.. so racist

“The benefits of drinking camel urine”

  • Spatchcocked

Yeah….ill fax you half a yard for them pilgrims…and a can of Raid…..super sized.

Btw in the foto of the family I notice annoying consistencies …..hubby is always dandling a wee one on his knee…..usually a girl child.
And Wifey is always in the background…..well back of the group of meiotic sprogs…….always the head scarf…always unsmiling… a beaten dog……poor little girl turned into a milch cow for that greasy whiskered hulking inbred ingrate.

    • mobuyus

They do love using children as props or shields.

      • Clausewitz

Well they do blow up so young these days. Here today, boom tomorrow.

  • Xavier

By that time, he said, he hopes he will be living in a cleaner, safer larger more luxurious home with his family.

    That’s what’s up.

  • Raymond Hietapakka

There’s a 1,000 shitty housing stories in the Naked City…tell me one without the muzzle’em sympathy spin…how about a sob-story about an old Ukrainian baba with corns and wet green firewood?

  • freakypete98

Again with all these kids. I’ve yet to see one of these families that had less then 4 kids. Like this family 6 seems to be the norm. War didn’t put a damper on their baby making. Compulsive whiners !!

An heir, a spare and the rest get sent to the front.

It is impossible to control bed bugs by treating one side of a duplex. Are they treating not sides?

    • They don’t say. Though I assume they would know that.

    • blehblehbleh

He’s probably not washing that clothes in hot water before he bags it.

Bedbugs are a bloody nightmare to get rid of if the building is poorly maintained and you have neighbours who either don’t care they have them or they don’t know they have them since 50% of people are immune to the bites and they go unnoticed for ages.

His story does ring true for anyone who’s been through it.

  • Etobicoke_Gladiator

Only one wife and five kids!?!? C’mon dude, get busy in the bedroom. Don’t let them nasty Canuckistani bedbugs stop you!

    • Yo Mama

Wait until all his other wives get here!

Of course with the age permitted by their beliefs some of those might be declared as children or nieces.

  • DVult

I count 7 bedbugs in that photo.

    • Yo Mama

Leeches are much bigger than bedbugs.

  • Physics grad

If they really want to get rid of this problem they need to roll a few canisters of VX gas in the house while the muslims are inside.

  • BitterClinger

He’s right. They must all be shot dead and dumped in a hog yard.

  • blehblehbleh

To be honest, I’d rather live in Syria then get bedbugs again.

I stopped going to movie theatres a decade ago because they’re so widespread in Vancouver.

South American ESL students and travellers brought them here in huge numbers and still do

  • He expects Canada to give him a BIG NICE HOUSE for his over-sized brood.

  • dukestreet

I know a lot of people who have suffered through them. The only thing that really works is very high heat or very low freezing. The company I’m familiar with brought in a bedbug sniffing dog and the heat had to be so high that it ended up cracking the walls requiring everything that could melt to be removed beforehand & the walls ad to be re-plastered & painted after the bugs were gone.

I recall a THC apartment was sprayed 21 times and they still didn’t get rid of them.
Spraying doesn’t work. They develop immunity very fast as all bugs do.

    • Alain

From my own personal experience I must disagree. Once when I lived in Africa I have my house boy permission to look after my place while I was away in Europe. Big mistake since he decided to sleep in my bed and probably bring his girl friends to share it with him. Upon my return I suddenly had a bedbug infestation. I removed the mattress, and sprayed everything including the slightest crack in the walls or furniture, and it was totally successful. The thing with bedbugs is that during the day they retreat to a crack or crevice only to venture out at night to feed on you, and they do not go that far way such as into the next room or building. Granted a person may bring them there on their clothing or whatever.

      • mauser 98

        did he get a raise?

        • Alain

          No, fired and replaced.

      • dukestreet

That was before they developed the immunity to the insecticides that have been commonly used. In the last few years they have had to constantly develop new treatments what they are working on now has to do with preventing reproduction. It’s still a few years out before it will be ready.

  • Canadian

They forgot to spray the occupants?
