I LOVE the comments on LiveLeak !! “Apparently the seesaw is sponsored by the local hip replacement surgeon”
Zee saw it coming.
I thought the log was going to snap at the fulcrum.
I thought it was going to roll and crush the guys standing in front.
I estimate at least 4,000 lbs. — two tons (not including weight of the log). Could have been much worse for the imbeciles.
I thought we were supposed to get a little smarter with age.
Not all of us;)
That’s what happens when log-drivers get old. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upsZZ2s3xv8
It certainly wasn’t a publicity photo op stunt by the ” Fraternal Order of Professional Log Rollers ” .
Poor old guys…it’s awful. I know. One year you’re riding a streak of greased blue lightning across the wild blue yonder and the next you’re falling off a fucking teeter totter.
Kinda disproves the old adage “With age comes wisdom”
“Group think” is disastrous, whether practiced by the young or the old. My old man warned me as a kid about following the crowd: “if everybody decides to jump off a cliff, you don’t need to jump off a cliff just because everybody else is doing it”.
My dad told me something similar. He said: “Whenever you see people pointing and shouting and running , look in the OPPOSITE DIRECTION. Most frequently, you will see what is usually hidden from view. Distracting large groups of people is among the easiest things to do. Always remember that.”
And I always have.
Very smart your dad. I tried to instill the same thing in my own kids — to no avail. They follow the crowd, and they hate me for not doing the same — never get to see my grand-kids. A messed up generation that one can only feel sorry for.
At great sacrifice, we sent out kids to private schools (Waldorf Academy, among other very different educational options). GroupThink is something they have an intellectual understanding of. They all matured into rugged individualists. The grandkids are following close behind. 😉
That’s the reality filter I’ve always used to decide what I am being told or what I see means, even unintended consequences. It’s a game the kids liked too.
It was my war bride mother who used that line….but it was a bridge…lol
There’s no age limit on candidates for the Darwin Award.
They say to know the future should drive oneself insane, well they retained their sanity at least.
Wasn’t that the group project from Trudeau’s Liberal Cabinet meeting?
