Every word uttered by Wynne is a lie

Wynne hits reverse on auto insurance rate pledge

TORONTO—Premier Kathleen Wynne says her government’s target to cut auto insurance rates by 15 per cent by last year was a “stretch goal.”

The Liberals promised to reduce car insurance premiums an average of 15 per cent by August 2015 as part of a deal to get NDP support for the 2013 budget when they were still a minority government.

But August came and went with the government’s target not even halfway met.

The latest numbers from the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, for the fourth quarter of 2015, show that approved rates decreased on average by 0.15 per cent, putting the decrease at an average of roughly seven per cent from 2013.

“We always knew it was a stretch goal,” Wynne said Jan. 18.

Did somebody say Liberals were going to keep an election promise!

  • Physics grad

why is she not yet in prison?

During the Election I had to laugh at the NDP’s Horwath because not only did she bash the Liberals hollow promises as she helped support them to stay in power, but the NDP spoke of Women’s rights but had a photo of Andrea wearing a Hijab at the back of a Mosque during prayers as men sat at the front .

It seems most politicians are vote-whores, who will say and do whatever they think will help them get elected. This is true for all parties.

      The NDP never learn.
They will always prop up a Liberal minority in exchange for a few crumbs and end up losing ground in the election.

And now she’s promising to lower the parking rates at hospitals parking lots. Yeah, right. Didn’t believe her then, and don’t believe her now. In any case, they will hit us with another tax, guaranteed. The moment they start promising lowering cost of something, there is another tax lurking.

    • Jaedo Drax

Didn’t you listen to the announcement? it only applies to the parking lots that are owned by the hospitals. Surprisingly, there will be no parking lots owned by hospitals by the time this takes effect.

      • Exile1981

They will be contracted out to a liberal owned company.

Actually, hospital parking is one of my pet peeves.
      I don’t like it.

      • Surele Surele

Nobody does. But while she is promising to lower the cost of parking, the skeptical me is asking: how is she going to replace the money for hospitals? What is she going to tax next to make up for the loss? It was the province that suggested hospitals generate additional income, as the province didn’t have enough money to squander on other (read: failed) projects.

let’s spell it out: bitch. Now, that’s better.

from a listener who phoned in this morning to 640 am; how about if I stretch goal my taxes this year?

I heard the audio clip on CFRB1010 today. Big pause between stretch and goal. Wide enough to drive a truck through it

  • “Premier Kathleen Wynne says her government’s target…was a ‘stretch goal’.”

I wonder if Wynne is aware that “stretch” is normally used as a noun and is a synonym for “lie” or “exaggeration”. She could have used a word like “aspirational” or “long-term”. But she chose to use language denoting that her promise was false. In other words you’re not getting your auto insurance rates cut as she promised. It was a campaign lie, which Wynne is admitting was a lie.

Stretch Goal? That is what Ben Levin was hoping for.

They are prioritizing in meeting their quote of taking in over 50,000 refugees instead of the well-being (in this case automotive insurance) of their own people.
