Nearly Half of Millennials Believe the American Dream is Dead

Nearly half of millennials, or 48 percent, believe that the American Dream is dead, according to a report from Generation Opportunity.

The report, which evaluates the outlook for millennials on various economic indicators, finds that many young adults have lower levels of personal income and wealth and higher levels of student loan debt than the two previous generations.

They were (one of) the willing tools of the left used to help kill it.
I don’t think the dream’s quite dead yet, but it is on its knees.
These kids have never in their life seen real economic prosperity and are essentially clueless as to what it would even look like.
Hopefully they are all Trump supporters, but I doubt it.

    • luna

I agree with you, but I don’t expect Trump will be of much help either.

      • Shebel

At the very least , Trump , is making people think.

        • Drunk_by_Noon

Maybe, but I see his appeal as less cerebral and more visceral.
He’s giving people permission to call “the lie” a lie.

        • Justin St.Denis

But what does it take to make Millennials work?

          • Clausewitz

They don’t like it when you tell them to stop tattooing themselves like a circus freak, learn a valuable skill at the post secondary school of their choice, get out of their parents basements, and work hard for once in their useless lives. This is what happens when everybody gets a trophy.

This. 100% this. Make yourself as unemployable as possible then pull the victim card. I can’t get a job says the entitled, green haired, tatted up, problem glasses, gender studies special snowflake but trust her when she says the American Dream is dead.

      • Drunk_by_Noon

I don’t know. Trump’s biggest asset is saying the unsayable.
That’s a huge step in the right direction.
The other one is that he knows where the bodies are buried and owes nobody any favors, so he has the latitude to do the right things that we all know what needs to be done.
I think he will either be really good (better than Reagan) or a huge disappointment and signal the final years of the Republic before U.S. Civil War 2.0.
Never before in my life have I seen Americans so close to taking up arms against their fellow citizens, and I must say that I do not really like that feeling.

  • Gaylord Ponce

No wonder it’s dead. here’s a broad with tats and green hair, sitting in a room decorated with shit along with a half-naked guy. If you want to live the American Dream, you got to look respectable and work your ass off.

    • Shebel

Isn’t part of the NEW American Dream spending your last dollar on a fancy tattoo so that you can look cool and dangerous when you go go to local food kitchen for free food and a handout?

  • Shebel

I don’t know what the ‘American Dream’ is any more—

so- How could the kids possibly know if it is alive or dead ?

  • canminuteman

Half of millennials are probably right. They should do something about it and stop voting for democrats.

    • Norman_In_New_York

Yes, they are right, which is why Trump and Bernie Sanders draw the largest crowds at political rallies.

      • V10_Rob

Trump’s value is not so much that he can fix things, as he can name the problems. Sanders is part of those problems, but he does have a silver lining…

Sanders’ value is that he threatens the elites’ control of the socialist agenda, taking the power out of the hands of the political and economic aristocracy, the limo liberals, and distributing it among the commoners, the people the elites claim to champion but secretly despise.

    • Clausewitz

And to think I used to think that it was just a black problem…….

  • Shebel

According to Obama if you get rich –you have done it on the backs of the POOR.

He should Know. He is rich . He has abused the Blacks and used the Whites—

And made everything worse— For Everybody.

    Except Himself.

There are great fortunes to be made by looting a rich nation, and the globalized economy of outsourcing and immigration has worked very well to extract wealth from the US middle class.

    • Shebel

Almost as many fortunes as were made by looting poor Nations.

It is always the same people.

      • Justin St.Denis

Could you punctuate that last sentence so I can figure out what you mean, please.

        • Shebel

          Why don’t you ask me?
          Say what you think.

          • Justin St.Denis

I just did. And very clearly, too. Without resorting to tricks.

            You know what? Forget it.

  • BillyHW

They got the change they voted for.

    • Shebel

You mean the change that the Media convinced them that they were voting for ?

That is a whole different cat. Sorta like propaganda.
