America’s ‘Iraq War Syndrome’

Dennis Ross, writing earlier this week on “How Obama Created a Mideast Vacuum,” attributed Obama’s continual failures to act in Syria – ignoring a growing humanitarian catastrophe, a historic refugee crisis, the rapid rise of Islamic State, and a widening proxy war – to the fact that “when he looked at Syria, he saw Iraq.” Last night, in his State of the Union address, Obama confirmed that analysis. He praised his “smarter approach” in Syria, which he said resulted from learning “the lesson of Vietnam and the lesson of Iraq” – which he called avoiding the “quagmire” of involvement in foreign wars. In his mind, his Syria policy is a success.

American policy in the ME has been a mess for decades.

I suggest nuclear weapons as a way to avoid a land war.

Those devices have been the most successful instruments in bringing true peace to recalcitrant combatants and those that gave them comfort. They are a proven peace winner. Shit I’ll push the fucken button.

Emperor Barry knows what he is doing.
In a few decades he will get another Nobel Peace Prize for all his misunderstood brilliant work now that will have led to Utopia++.

      “..ignoring a growing humanitarian catastrophe..”

Is there a Nobel Prize for ‘growing humanitarian catastrophes’?

      • Minicapt

“Presidential Medal of Freedom” or the “Congressional Gold Medal”.

        Cheers

  • We do not go into wars we intend on winning.

THAT is part of the problem.

If lives are to be sacrificed, make sure it is not in vain. Finish the damn war.

Obama did not want the US to win or have an reasonable foothold anywhere. Traitor? Only if he ever had any allegiance to the country he was elected to serve. Instead, he is a mole.

The lessons of Vietnam and Iraq is that there is no substitute for victory.

Or unleashing the Hound Hillary on Libya for no good reason.

The soviets openly admitted to funding the “peace movement” that soured dough heads on the war. What a different world we would be living in today had American youth not danced to a foreign tune.
