Trump by TRump

Why the Sudden Love Among Establishment Republicans for Trump?

It has been quite an experience — half amusing, half alarming — to behold the sudden transformation of Donald Trump from pariah to desperate hope of the Republican Party. As it happens, the moment of metanoia can be located with some precision.

They are starting to thing that he might just win without them, and if they continue to try and wreck his candidacy, then he might just turn around and wreck their entire political party.
I think they are slowly waking up to their “new normal”.

      That’s fun to watch.

Watching Trump move the needle on third rail issues has been entertaining.
It’s almost like watching a Mike Judge movie.

It’s also because they despise true conservatism more than anything else, and Cruz represents everything they hate, deep inside their hearts. So it’s anybody but Cruz for them, hence Trump.

I suspect more of the RINOS are realising that Hilly is a dog which don’t hunt and that, with the possible exception of Cruz who they really can’t stand, only Trump can win. The rest of the Republican field is deeply lame.

    Soooo… The Donald.

Rubio keeps swinging but he doesn’t realize how badly he damaged himself with the Gang of Eight.
Or, he does and he thinks he can Hillary his way out of it.

      • BillyHW

Rubio blew it with his amnesty. He could be the #1 candidate right now if not for his betrayal.

    • BillyHW

Yes, it is Cruz that they truly despise. Trump they just dislike.

What’s the old quote? “There go my people. I must find out where they’re going so I can lead them.”

  • warrenzoell

Because Trump is a progressive like them and they fear and hate Cruz. They only dislike Trump and feel they can at least in part get their way with him.
Cruz is the true anti establishment candidate.
Don’t believe me? Just ask the establishment.

Next, is DonJohn a qualified ‘natural-born citizen’?

Trump, as the article says, may be a liberal, but he is a nationalistic liberal, unlike Hillary or Obama. We haven’t had someone like that since JFK.

The establishment is made up of boring cowards. They only come on your side if they see a winner.

  • I like Cruz; he’s for real, he’s presidential, he’s genuinely conservative. Trump is interesting, but…

    • Drunk_by_Noon

We’re it not for Trump, Cruz would be withering under the GOP establishment.
Besides, a lot of what Cruz is saying (illegal aliens for example) are things he was not saying before Trump said them first.
Cruz was my first choice before Trump came along.
