Ontario Liberal Party Kleptocracy Update: tire recycling fees fund boozy board dinners

The private agency designated by the Liberal government to recycle Ontario’s used tires has spent thousands on wine tastings, fine dining, a boat cruise, luxury hotels — and donations to the Liberal Party of Ontario.

If we had an honest political system that would be able to properly deal with corruption in government this would happen.

    • Waffle

Unfortunately, probably not in my lifetime nor yours.

  • David Murrell

Naturally the national media (CBC News, CTV News, the Globe) will purposely ignore this story. The national media are there to please Premier Wynne.

As much as I hate the Toronto Star (and Cresent) for their Dhimmitude – I must admit they do a great job digging up dirt.
I like the Ipad excuse best – We all got Ipads to use and we are saving tons of paper by using them. If they were truly for business use – they’d be left in the desk drawer at the end of the day – I’ll bet dollars to taxpayer paid donuts if the Star could get hold of one of those Ipads it will be found to be full of taxpayer paid Apps that are totally unrelated to recycling tires.

tax started in 1990 after Hagersville tire fire
    26 years of fraud ,theft
how much was stolen and where did it go?

    • Gary

I knew it would be exploited because nobody seem to be making anything from used tires .
I can’t wait to see the real massive fraud in the Lottery Corp because that’s way too much money floating around to not have corruption to employ entire families and shell -out bonuses just fro doing their jobs.

Look at the CBC cover-up for rapes and misogyny , these weasels think that it’s THEIR money and they are above the Laws .

tire tax started about 1991 ..now Ontario Tire Stewardship ??
‘read for years money went into general revenues ,, which is latin for government black hole of debt.
now the Star has separated it back to the “Tire Tax”

        how did Wynne/Liberals separate this?

This is what you wanted. You voted for them./sarc
At least that’s what so many conservatives keep saying about Germany.

    • mauser 98

Just think of the great trips and parties the Liberals can have with the new carbon tax scam.

    • mauser 98

whole stupid western world to be raped

      • David Murrell

Good points. It has been said that the proposed carborn pricing system (which might be used instead of the carbon tax) might usher in huge money-laundering possibilities — for governments and “socially responsible” companies getting the subsidies.

Gee I thought the article was about Mexico and the writer make a mistake in stating Ontario.

Corruption, corruption and corruption and the people of Ontario keep on taking it. Is it not possible to take the he/she to court and sue her on behalf of the taxpayers? There has to be a few people to start this and they should have the backing of the Ontario taxpayers, after all is it not our money she is stealing? I am 66 and disabled but I would gladly come to court to see her prosecuted.

    “gin martini”, oh the horror.

    • ntt1

that’s where you drop a;ll pretense of adding vermouth and just chug the gin straight from the bottle or tea pot for the more discrete

      • FactsWillOut

        The Churchill Martini.

My experience with tire crumb, the end result of repurposing(not recycling) tyres is that its main market is Fuel Oil replacement in cement kilns, under cushioning for astro turf, rebinding and forming into high density mats for playgrounds and turkey laying barns there is limited use as a non skid resilient paint additive . freezing and crushing the rubber then extracting the wire belting or shredding and magnetic separation is hugely energy expensive and far from profitable. the limited market keeps the end product cheap . so apart from the theft of monies from consumers there is no way this hedonistic bureaucracy could survive, Keep the tax kill the department

  • Gary

Justin and Wynne seems to want to solve the spending crisis for the massive debts by just spending more money to buy Elections which means more taxes.

When the 1970’s Ponze scheme finally implodes we will see
huge numbers of people lose their homes which will drive senior out of them too, then the overall suicide rates will shoot through the roof. i feel sorry for the Public sector employees that b ought the lies of huge bags of money in the future as if it was FREE.
Canada’s total debt is close to $4 trillion and counting. If the interest rates ever hit 10% that debt will bout every 7 years.

    Good luck folks.
