GOP politicians want pro-censorship journo prof removed

Cure far worse than the disease:

From Cortney O-Brien at Townhall:

100 Republicans Demand Removal of Mizzou Professor Who Threatened Campus Journalist

Yeah, her, Melissa Click. Here.

Frustrated students had gathered to protest what they believe was a failure in the administration to address racism on campus. Signs reading “safe space” meant that Mark Schierbecker and his camera were not welcome. When he refused to leave, citing his First Amendment rights, Click demanded he be physically removed:

“All right. Who wants to help me get this reporter out of here? I need some muscle over here.”

As a result of her unprofessional behavior, Republican lawmakers wrote a letter to Mizzou’s board, interim chancellor and interim president urging them to fire Click. Unlike Click’s harsh tactics, they are pursuing a peaceful removal. More.

Reality check: Politicians, please stay out of it. This is a fight for the soul of the university, and you can only make things worse by getting involved.

Let universities continue to demonstrate that U humanities disciplines are merely training facilities for ‘crats. Free people may be forced by governments to fund them, but we should nderstand it to be on the same basis as we fund community college courses in Corrections. We do not give to them privately.

In the case of the U ‘crats, we should not accord them respect for their “achievements” (in what exactly?), nor pay attention to media who cite their socio profs with respectful attention.

The real future of education is probably with MOOCs (massive online open courses) The baby asshats can invade the campus library but—even today — they might be in a slight spot of awkwardness if they started invading private homes, and ranting at private terminals.

That may still be a crime, even for a righteous progressive.

Will the junior jackboots of Asshat U finally get “justice”?

Typically I’d agree with this sentiment, but knowing that the left also owns University Inc., I know of no other way to “clean the stables”.
Look, that bitch is still there when they went to a very elaborate charade to make it appear that she was fired a couple of months back.
No, I say pick a university, and Mizlou is a fine example, and just rip them apart as an example of how they can be hurt if they don’t straighten out.

This argument reminds me of the situation in Columbia while Pablo Escobar was being peruse debut they could not touch him because he has so much control over all the organs of power.
It finally too extra judicial counter-terrorism-terrorism against Pablo Escobar’s organization to finally weaken him enough to kill him.
There was nothing “legal” about it, but it was justice by any measure that you want to use.

Drunk by Noon at 1, normally I would agree with you too. But it isn’t politicians who can spearhead this. It is students, paying parents, and alumni. If they won’t take the lead, politicians will only make things worse. There are lots of examples worldwide, of government interference in universities. Few happy ones.

It’s a shot across the University’s bow: dump the professor and begin clean-up ops. Otherwise the State General Assembly begins defunding the parts of the University with problems. The University belongs to the State of Missouri, not its recalcitrant bits and persons.

I am glad to hear it isn’t just the GOP mocking its supporters before graduating to fat consultancies. But the optics make it look like all those big rich guys are dumping on our brave, freedom-loving heroine …

No one can grow up for someone else. The consumers of the, er, product she provides must start withdrawing their money first. Then it becomes legitimate when politicians act on falling enrolment,

As in, “Listen, Sweet Baby Smashmouth, it’s not us, you understand. Our creepy constituents are refusing to pay for you to rough people up any more. Ignorant rubes! Now, we better get a move on packing … “

  • It’s almost not worth fighting over, the education bubble will burst.
