Cure far worse than the disease:
100 Republicans Demand Removal of Mizzou Professor Who Threatened Campus Journalist
Frustrated students had gathered to protest what they believe was a failure in the administration to address racism on campus. Signs reading “safe space” meant that Mark Schierbecker and his camera were not welcome. When he refused to leave, citing his First Amendment rights, Click demanded he be physically removed:
“All right. Who wants to help me get this reporter out of here? I need some muscle over here.”
As a result of her unprofessional behavior, Republican lawmakers wrote a letter to Mizzou’s board, interim chancellor and interim president urging them to fire Click. Unlike Click’s harsh tactics, they are pursuing a peaceful removal. More.
Reality check: Politicians, please stay out of it. This is a fight for the soul of the university, and you can only make things worse by getting involved.
Let universities continue to demonstrate that U humanities disciplines are merely training facilities for ‘crats. Free people may be forced by governments to fund them, but we should nderstand it to be on the same basis as we fund community college courses in Corrections. We do not give to them privately.
In the case of the U ‘crats, we should not accord them respect for their “achievements” (in what exactly?), nor pay attention to media who cite their socio profs with respectful attention.
The real future of education is probably with MOOCs (massive online open courses) The baby asshats can invade the campus library but—even today — they might be in a slight spot of awkwardness if they started invading private homes, and ranting at private terminals.
That may still be a crime, even for a righteous progressive.
