Barbara Kay: Appeasing the Islamists in Quebec

Islamism proved a growing threat to Western nations in 2015. But while massacres rivet our attention, they constitute only the most flamboyant tactics in the jihadists’ triumphalist program, which calls for the infiltration of our institutions and the eventual domination of our culture.

That can’t happen so long as we exercise our freedom of speech to denounce Islamism and shame those who support it. Which is why Islamists invented the myth of Islamophobia in Western countries to justify their call for a tightening of the noose on this precious freedom. They certainly can’t do it alone, but they have “useful idiots,” as Vladimir Lenin used to call Western supporters of communism, to help them by furthering the absurd notion that criticism of Islam — a belief system like any other — is a form of defamation, which in our jurisprudence is speech that can only harm an individual.

  • Defamation can only harm a group when it is the instrument of a dictatorial State and State-controlled mass media. Examples are the Jews in Nazi Germany and the Tutsi in Rwanda.

The fact that private media in the West is increasingly surrendering free speech rights to the demands of fascist Marxists and fascist Islamists isn’t a good sign. If the State at some point achieves absolute control, the media is already ideologically on side with the political goals of a fascist State re: mass media control. Without putting up a fight.

A very slippery slope, pity we cannot just let Que slide down it WITHOUT the rest of Canada.

    • Whatever happened to the massive support Nation-wide (and especially in Quebec) for Harper’s policy to keep the Sharia niqab out of the public citizenship oath? Quebec had a hard-line on Islamism (as did the government of France), sometimes going too far to the other extreme as hard-core secularists. Has everybody surrendered to Islam?

We haven`t. Politicians say and do things whatever the people think.
Do all Ontarians endorse what Wynne and his/her commie gang do?
Do all Americans think like Obola?
Do governments receive money from Soddy Barbaria or Qatar?

Good article. I wish there was a Canadian section in the Spectator as I’d like to read articles by the likes of B. Kay, K. Shaidle, etc.

When will the Muslim Brotherhood be listed as a terrorist entity in Canada?

“Aspects of the Muslim Brotherhood’s ideology and activities … run counter to British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, equality and the mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs,” Prime Minister David Cameron said in a statement. Cameron further states that “association with, or influence by the Muslim Brotherhood should be considered as a possible indicator of extremism.”
