What the cultural and political establishments can’t grasp about Donald Trump

Perhaps it’s not surprising that Time magazine named Angela Merkel its “Person of the Year.” With her flooding of Europe with Muslim migrants, the German chancellor may, after all, go down in history as a primary destroyer of Western civilization. Yet there’s no question in my mind who is Man of the Year: Donald Trump.

El Trumpo is a deserved black eye to the elitist establishment, and for knocking out their planned Jeb!! coronation we must be grateful. (Note the two exclamation points: I thought that Jeb’s campaign needed a bit of lift. No charge, Jebsters!)

The problem is that Trump’s record shows him to be is a left-leaning, big-government cronyist and he would likely revert to form under the pressure of office. All the promises and conservative talk of the primary season would be forgotten and only Losers! would be so gauche as to bring them up once he were in office. His term would closer to a continuation of the last eight years than a return to constitutional, conservative government.

If Trump is who you say he is, he couches it in nationalist, optimistic terms that appeal to voters and he is not tied to any political machines that would waft the odor of corruption upon him. Like Reagan, he wants to build up our strength and security. Even if he isn’t nominated, the knowledge he generated of what resonates with the public is likely to be picked up by his rivals.

Oh, please, do not mention Reagan in the same breath. Reagan spent years going all around the country (sponsored by GE – how they have fallen) giving talks on conservative principles.

If you get hold of Trump’s interview on the Mark Levin Show (who, as he does with all his guests gives him a fair shot) it is embarrassing to hear how fake the guy is when trying to pass himself off as a conservative.

“it is embarrassing to hear how fake the guy is when trying to pass himself off as a conservative.”

I think it’s a mistake to try to pigeonhole Trump into any existing ideology. The best way to understand him is to simply listen to what he says. He even seems to be able to change his mind as his knowledge of a situation improves. That means we need to do our own listening, and do it often.

Trump is not one of those who are playing us for fools.

Trump is using Obama’s ’08 playbook by tapping into a huge discontented segment of the country. His positions are based on public opinion, not principles.

OTOH, it’s him or the Uniparty.

    • Xavier

You’re probably right. As the article points out, Trump is a populist; his current positions are dictated by public opinion, not principles. Plus, remember the old saying, ‘A leopard doesn’t change his spots’.

The pundits argue over the candidates and I laugh because this election is Trump vs. the Uniparty.

    • Way too much talk.

      Want change! Vote Trump!

      Anything but more progressive crap.

The pendulum does swing. The voters that went all ga ga over radical in chief Mr. community organizer can hardly complain about the back lash.

The pendulum does swing but it’s located on a treadmill that’s moving leftward.

The elites that control the media, politics, education and entertainment sectors of North America don’t want people to think for themselves. That is dangerous to their leftist agendas. With the Liberal and NDP controlling the federal and provincial governments, our country is sinking down the socialist shithole. The new “Sunny Ways” include over 2000 homeless veterans in Canada while Syrian muslims are given 5 star hotels, feminists are outraged in the media about the lack of baby killing services in Prince Edward Island while having to import muslims because of a declining population. Then we have the new minister of culture stating that future efforts will be on whiny indians, the environment and diversity. Forget about that racist history of white people in Canada. And we have Osama Trudeau tweeting how great it was for a public school in Ottawa to sing a song about islam defeating the Christian infidels, according to the Toronto Sun. And let us not forget that Ontario is now 91% percent more in debt. “Sunny Ways”
