It’s OK to criticize religion, Islam

WWHD. That’s what I think whenever something crops up in the news that needs a contrarian perspective. What Would Hitchens Do?

Islam’s increasing dominance in international and domestic news is certainly worthy of a Hitchslap, the term Christopher Hitchens’ admirers used to explain how his great speaking skills left his opponents scrambling for words.

After years of hard living, this prolific British-born writer and most enthusiastic of happy warriors died on Dec. 15, 2011

Canada islam was Peaceful in the 20th century with less than 250,000 followers .
But them came CAIR in 1995 that was funded by the Saudi’s and a Muslim Brotherhood front group that had a mission to cause trouble and divide Canadians and fuel anger to make muslims victims and bigotry.
Since 9/11/01 we have now seen Quranic inspired terrorism grow in the number of Plots while the population of muslims from pro-sharia Nations increased to the now 1,000,000 mark which Trudeau exploited because there are less than 1 million Jews or Natives in Canada .

Based on the Global examples for Muslims pouring into the West, Canada’s magic number for annual Islamic Jihad terrorism will be about 1.5- 2.0 million.
I say this because out of the 7 Nations that the UN declared as Terrorist Producing , Canada still allows Immigration from 5 of them which are islamic Nations or Muslims dominated.

Islamists also have the CBC on their side and the STAR along with the Toronto Police that are not allowed to tell the RCMP when they come across an Illegal that is a young male Muslim.

BTW, it was Furey was the columnist crying over the 2% residential school death rate the other day. Someone else to add to the “don’t read” list.

“most enthusiastic of happy warriors died on Dec. 15, 2011”

Hmm… “most enthusiastic of happy warriors”, well, I suppose that is one way of describing him.

Another might be “repugnant drunken shit who did nothing of any more value with his life than sit on his overbearing ass and sneer at others”.

If you don’t like that option, how about – “hedonistic alcoholic who hated everyone but himself made a lot of people happy when he died”.

    • I miss Hitch. I was sad when he died and I still am. He was writing in top form ’till months before his death.

I was reading around in that last night, actually. Have you read any of it? I’m guessing no. Who was always worth reading?

Hitch’s obsessive hatred of religion was annoying, and, while the most famous, the least interesting thing about him. Have you ever tried reading God Is Not Great? I have, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

So what? That’s all he was? Just a “repugnant drunken shit” etc.? Not a brilliant if no doubt flawed man who’d lived more and read more than either you or I ever will?

      He was brave about Islam.

What’s your beef with Hitch? He didn’t like Christianity? What, are you a Muslim? Can’t you shrug it off?

      • G

I’m not a muslim. I just hate Hitchens. The man was garbage.
Other people here have wrote about their admiration for him …ok .

I wrote about my extreme dislike for him. What’s the problem? Don’t like it? Oh well. Not everybody has to admire a mean spirited asswipe who hated basically everyone.

        • You can say whatever you want. I’m just disagreeing with you.

If I were going to denounce someone, I’d do more than just call him names.

What of his have you ever read?

          • G

A few Salon articles and God …ect. Enough to know I didn’t want to read more. Gotta go.

          • Happy Festivus.

          • FactsWillOut

I suppose you hate Pat Condell as well?

        • G

Oops I signed off too quick. I have to make this fast. Christmas stuff to do. The quick version is this slime bag cultivated a vehicle to fame that is used very often today. TOO OFTEN.

Furey mentioned it in his column. Hichens was a contrarian.
So if most people said they like sunny days then this greasy slob would give a thousand reasons why sunny days are terrible and anyone who liked them is stupid and gullible.

Being a contrarian is making yourself famous basically by naysaying whatever the prevailing opinion is. It’s a bit parasitical.

          • I don’t believe you’ve ever read a damn thing he wrote. Anyway, Happy Festivus etc.

          • Justin St.Denis

I suspect you are right on that score. Hitchens was a masterful writer, but significantly beyond the reach of the average Canadian reader, I’m afraid.

            Wanted: Coherent Allies

            Loud, drunk wench, engaged in
            inarticulate political discourse
            Why, Christ, why
does she have to be on my side?

            —Seamus Dundee

          • Sorry, I’m dense, literal minded, and slightly paranoid. Slightly drunk, even. Am I the “wench”?

  • Dana Garcia

I was remembering — and missing — Christopher today with the news that the hideous Mother Teresa was made a saint by the pope. Hitch’s book about her, The Missionary Position, was a fine smackdown.

    • G

Let’s compare, one person worked hard to improve the lives of poor people in India. The other was a greasy drunk who wrote snotty shit for Salon.

Hmm yep, he’s a hero alright.

      • Justin St.Denis

You’ve read a whole pile of propaganda, haven’t you?

    • Justin St.Denis

I know a Catholic priest who worked with her in Calcutta. He almost left the Church over her and her antics. Theresa was no saint, that’s for bloody sure. But Pope Evita has little intrest in things Catholic and far more of a political agenda. Pity. Pope Benedict was such a warrior, and now Evita prances about like a Catholic Crossdresser learning Irish dance steps. Truly unnerving.

It is just sooo easy to be an Atheist .. You are always right and it is easy to be funny as you ridicule that which a good portion of people on the Planet consider to be Holy.
I guess you now know for sure, Christopher , if you were right .

    • DD_Austin

Really Which People, which holy? Islam?

Most “holy” people kill Atheists, it’s only in the “civilized world” they don’t

      There is a connection there

      • FactsWillOut

Atheistic regimes killed 100+ million in the 20th century.

        • DD_Austin

Religion killed millions every century since Noah

          • FactsWillOut

Tell me all about each million killed by Christianity in the 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
A breakdown by century is required.
            Go on.

    • FactsWillOut

Ain’t nothin’ wrong with mocking someones deepest beliefs. It builds character.

    • Justin St.Denis

Hutchens became a bit of a shill over time, didn’t he? And atheists do tend to be repetitive, which Hitchens certainly was.
