Geert Wilders

Declaration of Geert Wilders before the Court

Mr. President, members of the Chamber,

I have the right to a fair trial. That is why I am here.

Not to ask you a favor. But to ask you what I am entitled to.

A fair trial. And the right to defend myself in the best possible way.

If you do not give me that chance then this trial will be a farce.

  • Dana Garcia

Wait — they’re trying Geert Wilders again for telling the truth about Islam??

    Europe is so screwed.

    • Clausewitz

      Let the Farce commence.

  • Maggat

Terrible pity what PC has done to society. Wilders is hooped and he knows it.

  • eMan14

It’s a farce before it even begins.

    • DD_Austin

It’s a farce that it begins

  • Exile1981

They are just pissed he tells the uncomfortable truths.

    • Xavier

And those truths scare the hell out of them, because it means they are responsible for the demise of their culture.

      • Exile1981

But they got their 20 pieces of silver out of it….

    • dance…dancetotheradio

And there is a point where saying I told you so after the fact is so utterly pointless.
However, in Canada, that’s the only way I am going to derive any pleasure out of the next four years.
To think that it didn’t even take a week and the gift of gaffe keeps on giving.

      • Exile1981

I heard on the radio an add for the alberta ndp. It was saying the public should support the new climate crap… for the children.

        • dance…dancetotheradio

If I had the means I would run a counter ad.
One that says we’re spending your inheritance now

          • Exile1981

They just hit all the farmers today. They all now have to pay wcb but still can’t collect it and all the farm workers will now be part of a new provincial union.

  • Xavier

Wilders probably thought “travesty, mockery, or perversion of a trial” might not have impressed the court – even if it was more accurate.

  • Millie_Woods

There’s virtually nothing in the mainstream media about this. But once he’s convicted they will report that a racist European politician was fined for villifying muslims and making xenophobic comments. That’s all most people will hear about this.

    • dance…dancetotheradio

This is how it looks when you have the other side conducting the trials at Nuremburg.

  • dance…dancetotheradio

‘But to ask you what I am entitled to.’
I hope that was a mistranslation.
He should be telling them what he is entitled to under the law.

  • canminuteman

Wilders is guilty as charged, so he is going to get convicted. The problem is that the law he is charged under should not exist. When that is the system you (we) live under, there is no hope until you can change the system.
