After Paris: where’s our fire?

A week ago, when 129 people in Paris were massacred as they went joyfully about their Friday nights, there were instant predictions of fury and instability. The cut-off commentariat in particular was worried that ‘ordinary people’ might turn Islamophobic. Hatred will spread ‘thick and fast’, said Scotland’s minister for Europe. Others fretted that there would be displays of jingoism, demands for revenge. Don’t agitate for a ‘clash of civilisations’, observers warned. One expert on international affairs even told us not to get angry, because ‘ISIS counts on anger… to advance its cause’. This elite panic about post-Paris rage spoke volumes about the anti-public mindset of Europe’s opinion-formers, who view us as volatile, easily turned from civilised creatures into warmongers.

A little brutishness on the part of the beleagured taxpayer might well be in order.

  • Blacksmith

If we were really the warmongers the leftist claim islam would only exist in the history books.

Anger is a natural and healthy response when an injustice is perceived to have taken place. It is energizing, and therefore serves to motivate action. Whereas sorrow is a low energy emotion and does not motivate action – on the contrary.

That the French feel no anger suggests that they do not believe, in their heart of hearts, that the murder of their fellow citizens was actually an injustice. WTF is wrong with these people?

A lifetime of effective brainwashing in public education and media?

  • One simple fact: Without Islamic theology the world would be a much different place.

To add insult: The West has become too fat and happy. Its leaders, like drug dealers, pass out political favors (other people’s money) without regard to long term consequences. They have divided us with multiculturalism. And shut us up with PC intellectual blinders.

The west is like a fat, and wounded animal, hoping some hungry alligator is not close by.

This is not a good situation for the West.

But make no mistake about one fact. Without Islam, the world would be a much better place. You simply cannot have Islamic theology with active versus that encourage random followers to kill non-Muslims without bad consequences.

Islamic theology is the root problem. Without some sort of Islamic reformation, the world will continue down the same path.

You are describing the anomie that has afflicted the West:

“Anomie is a social condition in which there is a lack of cohesion and order, especially in relation to norms and values.”

Reformation? The only good islam is a dead islam.

The posturing of the elites that ISIS is bolstered by our anger is nothing new. These same elites declined to rescue or help Jews during World War II because they felt it would play into the hands of Nazi propaganda that the war was a Jewish war.

    • Bernie

Posturing of the Elites is because we all need to follow the money to see who is benefiting from what the Radical Islamists are doing. The reason Western Societies are not taking a more aggressive action against these Islamic Fascists is that the Elites of the Societies stand to make too much money !!!

Ironies abound. The West has been beaten into silence. We Jews know it well — Sha still has become the byword. It is also known as the Tall Poppy syndrome. Keep your head down. Don’t stand out.

The patricians are more frightened of the plebeians than the invading barbarian horde. Bread (welfare) and games (reality TV) may not be enough to keep all the plebeians docile.

  • Tom Quiggin

France is already lost and most French citizens know it in their hearts. Unless the French military can re-establish control of the NO GO neighbourhoods, then the violence and disintegration will continue. Prez Hollande has the will to attack ISIS, but not the will to go after Clichy sur Bois. As Kurt Vonnegut would have said: So it goes….

    Where’s the fire?

Society killed it. What *exactly* are the values of the society we’re supposed to defend, again? A secular nation that kills thousands of babies, hates Christianity, imports thousands of bearded savages and foreign workers while vets and real Canadians go poor and homeless? Imagine what $2-3 billion would do for veterans…. Instead, we’ll pay for those antithetical to Western Civ to come here? When was the last time a nation paid its invaders to come?

    No, thanks, let it burn.
